Job summary

We are currently looking for an experienced and compassionate relief chef to provide flexible kitchen cover in a care home environment.

Ensuring that residents have a nutritious and well-balanced diet is a crucial part of providing support at Sutherlands Care Home. This is a role which really makes a difference to the lives of others. We are looking to appoint a chef with a personable and warm approach, who is motivated and passionate about the quality of the food they offer, and who has a genuine interest in the wellbeing of our residents.

You will be responsible for ensuring that all of our residents' special dietary requirements are taken into consideration. Dietary requirements can range from food intolerances to personal dietary choices and health problems such as dysphagia. In this role you will also be responsible for ensuring all health and safety and environmental standards are achieved and maintained. You will be responsible for the management of the kitchen which includes the staff rota.

Duties as a Chef:

• Preparing and cooking nutritious, well-balanced meals for residents
• Catering for a range of dietary requirements and special nutritional needs
• Maintaining high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness, and kitchen safety
• Supporting the kitchen team during holidays, sickness, and busy periods
• Ensuring meals are prepared and served with care and professionalism

Requirements:

• Previous chef experience, ideally within a care home, healthcare, or catering environment
• Good understanding of dietary needs, allergens, and food safety regulations
• Ability to work independently and efficiently in a busy kitchen
• Reliable, flexible, and professional approach
• Food Hygiene Certificate required or preferred
• DBS check beneficial or willingness to undergo one
