Job summary
The Victoria Grand is a dedicated residential care home located in Worthing, committed to providing compassionate and personalised care to our residents. Our mission is to enhance the quality of life for older people by creating a warm, supportive environment that promotes dignity, independence, and respect.
We are currently looking for a full-time Care Assistant to join our team.
The successful candidate will provide care in line with best practice and legislative requirements, following company policies, procedures, and agreed standards under the guidance of the Team Leader.
The role involves supporting residents to maintain their independence, personal interests, and daily living skills while delivering high-quality, person-centred care tailored to each individual’s needs. Care Assistants will also be expected to maintain and develop their skills through ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
Role-Specific Duties
The Care Assistant’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Ensuring residents remain at the centre of all care delivery, with their wishes, preferences, and wellbeing always respected and promoted
- Supporting the smooth and efficient running of the Home
- Assisting residents with personal care needs in a sensitive and respectful manner, including helping with hygiene routines and changing continence pads where required
- Providing practical day-to-day support to help maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents, including assisting with laundry, disinfecting equipment or mattresses when needed, and carrying out light domestic duties such as vacuuming
- Supporting residents to maintain relationships and connections within the local community
- Following care plans and guidance to ensure residents receive appropriate and consistent support
- Reporting any changes in residents’ physical, emotional, or social needs to the Team Leader
- Promoting and safeguarding the welfare and wellbeing of all residents
Working with Others
- Developing positive and effective working relationships with colleagues within the Home
- Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to maximise opportunities and outcomes for residents
- Supporting residents to maintain meaningful relationships with family, friends, and others who are important to them, where desired

- Seeking opportunities for personal and professional development
- Acting as a positive role model for colleagues and representing the Home in a professional manner
- Remaining professional, polite, and considerate at all times

- Understanding the regulatory framework governing the service, including the role and requirements of the CQC
- Committing to achieving relevant qualifications appropriate to the role
- Attending mandatory and additional training as required by management
- Understanding and following all policies and procedures relevant to the role
- Being open to ongoing learning and development opportunities
This role may involve working both day and night shifts.
