Job summary

We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Chef to join our nursing home team, providing nutritious, high-quality meals for residents in a warm and caring environment. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about food, understands dietary requirements for older adults, and takes pride in creating meals that support residents’ health, wellbeing, and enjoyment.

You will be responsible for planning, preparing, and serving balanced meals while maintaining the highest standards of food hygiene, safety, and kitchen cleanliness.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and cook nutritious, appetising meals for residents, catering to a variety of dietary, cultural, and medical requirements.

Plan menus that are balanced, seasonal, and suitable for older adults, including modified textures and specialist diets where required.

Ensure compliance with food hygiene, health and safety, and infection control standards.

Manage stock levels, food ordering, and kitchen budgets effectively.

Maintain a clean, organised, and safe kitchen environment.

Work closely with care staff and management to meet residents’ dietary needs and preferences.

Monitor food quality and presentation to ensure a positive dining experience.

Maintain accurate records relating to food safety and allergen management.

Requirements

Previous experience as a Chef, Cook, or Kitchen Manager, ideally within a nursing home, care home, healthcare, or catering environment.

Knowledge of dietary requirements, allergens, and nutritional needs for elderly residents.

Strong understanding of food hygiene and safety standards (Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate desirable).

Ability to work independently and manage kitchen operations efficiently.

Good organisational and time management skills.
