Review from Zoe B (Brother of Resident) published on 19 August 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My brother came to Oldbury care home only for a short while, my brother had terminal bone cancer which he had been struggling to manage the pain towards the end and after having a fall at home he decided he wanted to be in a care home for his final days. My brother was only 54 years old and struggled on his first day at Oldbury, letting go of his last bit of independence, but Danny the care home manager and the rest of the staff made Lee feel comfortable and got his pain under control within a few days by syringe driver. Me and my family then managed to have a weekend with my brother which was the best he had been in weeks, he then passed away on the Monday which was peaceful. We are so grateful to the staff at Oldbury for making this happen and giving Lee the dignity and care that he needed on his final days. Ethan and Trevor and Danny went above and beyond for my brother. Me and my family are forever grateful to them for this.

Since Dani has returned to oldbury lodge, the quality of care has improved and there is more awareness of individual needs
The food is much better and it is nice for the residents to have a menu, if mum doesn't like what's on offer she can have an alternative

It would be nice to have a hairdresser available

Reply from Danielle Bentley, Care home manager at Oldbury House Care Home
Thank you Linda for your positive feedback :-) myself and the team are really pleased with your feedback and we appreciate very much.
IN relation to the hair salon, this is almost ready and i do have a hairdresser in the pipeline we are just awaiting for price list and availability schedule this will then be shared with the relatives and residents.
Thank you again

My Mum has been a resident just over 4 years. I have seen great improvement in this time. Mums health has deteriorated but the love and care she receives is fantastic. All of the staff not only the careers but the entertainment girls, cleaners, laundry, the night staff and the maintenance men show great respect to everybody.
Also the new cook is excellent

I am confident the Mum is being well looked after thanks to all oft the staff

My mum was staying at Oldbury due to having advanced stage 4 breast cancer . She was very well looked after , her room was lovely with ensuite bathroom.
All the care staff, entertainment staff and housekeeping all took care of mum in 1 way or the other.
She was very happy there during her last week's of life.
Her passing was dealt with with the upmost dignity to mum.

Thanku to everyone for taking good care of her .

I haven't really got any complaints. The staff are friendly and very helpful. The 2 carers who sorts out the all the activities needs a special mention as they do a fantastic job not saying the rest of the staff do as well. They all seem to join in when it comes when it comes to any entertainment

My Mother was a resident of Oldbury care home after a short time spent in Hospital. She was approaching the end of life and needed all her needs cared for, which was not always easy as she wasn't always compliant. The staff managed with her with patience and made her stay comfortable. We were able to visit whenever we wished to for as long as we wished. Mum passed away a few days after her 90th Birthday. All the staff were helpful and caring. We feel she received the best care as she approached her final days.

Mum was well looked after by the very caring and kind staff at the nursing home when she went in for respite care. She was pleased with her clean spacious room with its tv. She was able to take some photos from home which staff hung on the wall for her. She was treated with dignity and respect. Would recommend.

Since my mum moved to Oldbury House following her stroke and diagnosis of global aphasia, we have felt very reassured by the care and support she receives. She had previously been in another care home where we experienced concerns around safe keeping, so finding somewhere we can truly trust has meant a great deal to our family.

Mum has been at Oldbury House for around six weeks now, and throughout that time the staff have consistently been kind, friendly and caring. Her room is always clean and tidy, and most importantly, she is very well looked after.

The manager has been especially helpful, understanding and approachable, always taking the time to listen and support us. We genuinely feel that the team understands my mum's individual needs and treats her with dignity and compassion.

We are very grateful for the care she is receiving and would happily recommend this home to other families.

My mum has been with the home for respite care for about a month. The staff and manager were extremely welcoming on our arrival and have really worked hard to help mum settle into her new surroundings. As a patient with dementia, the care staff have shown care and compassion to both my mum as the resident as well as my Dad as they adjust to mum staying at the care home.

My Nan has been a resident here for nearly two years now, and we honestly couldn't be happier with the care she receives. She is very happy and content, which means everything to our family.
The staff are incredibly person-centred and always promote Nan's independence, supporting her in a way that maintains her dignity and individuality. It's clear they genuinely care about the residents and take the time to understand them as people.
The activities team are absolutely amazing - there is always something going on to keep residents engaged and entertained. They regularly organise musicians to come in and sing, which Nan especially enjoys. It's wonderful to see so much effort put into creating a lively and positive atmosphere.
The new manager, Danielle, has also made a fantastic impression. She is polite, informative, and friendly, and she takes the time to speak to Nan and other residents whenever she is passing. That personal touch really makes a difference.

10/10

Overall Experience
From the moment moved in to Oldbury House I felt an instant relief with the level of care and compassion the team showed her. Mum was/still is unable to speak clearly but the staff are so kind and patient and with time they have grown with her and are able to understand mum.
The team work relentlessly hard. They are passionate and it is obvious to see they truely care about the residents. It's is like an extended family. When we visit it feels like a home. The team have become our friends.
In addition to daily care and needs of the residents the team go over & beyond to help vary everyone's day with various entertainment, theropy dogs etc lead by Sarah and Julie. They work so hard to keep everyone stimulated with the added touch of their nuttiness This is extended the residents that are bed bound so no one is left out.
The kitchen staff are also amazing and can accommodate any specify needs if required.

Overall I am very happy in the knowledge that my mum is safe and happy

Review from Sam O (Daughter of Resident) published on 5 March 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My father was moved to Oldbury House at the beginning of January after a long stay in hospital. From the moment he arrived he has received excellent care from staff who are compassionate and thoughtful, and take the time to consider the individual needs of the resident. This understanding has led to my father settling in incredibly quickly and he himself has commented that he is well and enjoys the food. That said, it is apparent that the home would benefit from some investment to improve some of the facilities.

The activities that the home arranges have been fabulous, and I have seen how well the residents respond, and that is down to the enthusiasm and understanding that the staff have with their residents. This goes across all staff groups as well and I have been so pleased with how welcoming and accommodating they all are. This has been the best move I could have asked for and that is down to the management of the home and the staff who personalise care and are all first rate.

My father moved into the home for respite initially and this has now become his new home.
His dementia ment the move was quite difficult for him but the care and support of the management and carers helped dad and us through this transition period
Dad is now settled on Victoria where all residents appear happy.
The entertainment ladies do a fantastic job considering the area they have to cover.
Care staff are hard working but at times seem over stretched.

If I had to be negative about anything it would be that the diet for diabetics maybe needs to be monitored a bit more closely.
