My mum's residency at Oldbury House Care Home began in November, 2023. She has dementia and is unable to walk, feed herself, clean herself or tend to herself. When we arrived on the day she was admitted the staff welcomed us in to her room and set about from the very start making her comfortable and
welcome. Did we want a drink and food? Does Mum want a TV in her room? They could not do enough for her. This treatment continued over all the time she was there (5 months). Carers were diligent, considerate and engaging with Mum. Her room was lovely, ensuite, with storage for clothes and everything else she had. Medications were administered correctly and the staff were patient with her. Good food, regular drinks and friendly staff. At Christmas the staff went the extra mile by putting all the tables together in the main room and inviting residents family and friends to pop by and join them for their Christmas dinner. It was a lovely Christmas day.

We can’t thank the staff enough for the level of care, compassion and attention to detail they showed in looking after my mother following her stroke. The team were fantastic in going above and beyond to help my mother (and us as a family) through a very difficult situation, from the individual, respectful
and compassionate relationship every member of the care staff built with my mum to the fantastic efforts of the nursing team and the attention to detail by the manager - we feel so grateful to everyone. They made her and us feel welcome and supported her and us through every stage of the journey of getting her ready to move back to a home of her own. Thank you again!

My sister has resided in Oldbury Court since January 2023, and we have nothing but praise and gratitude for the care she has received. At times of family visits, we are always made welcome, and there is always a member of staff willing to take the time to help when needed.
My sister always looks well
cared for and is always cleanly dressed and well groomed. She has settled in well.

My mother suffered a massive stroke leaving her unable to speak, walk or move which meant she needed 24/7 care. Following poor care in other facilities, we were able to find a room at Oldbury Care Home. I cannot believe how lucky we were that fate meant Mum was admitted to Oldbury. The care that Mum
receives is of the highest level. We could not have hoped for a better care home (with the emphasis on care). The nursing staff and the carers treat residents with compassion, dignity and care. The patience they show continuously towards the residents truly amazes me. The carers are always cheerful and work like troopers and I can't praise them enough for their commitment. I would also like to mention the administration staff who have been very easy to deal with and very accommodating to our needs and wishes. It's been a difficult time seeing Mum like this however, I am truly grateful to all the staff as they have given us peace of mind knowing Mum is being truly cared for.

After becoming incapacitated during an extended hospital stay, my father required care home and nursing treatment. I cannot praise highly enough the care he received at The Grange (now Oldbury House). He settled in and had the freedom to join others in activities or not as he wished. If he didn't want
to have meals in the dining room in his unit, the staff were happy to take them to his room. The staff were all caring, patient and cheerful. The end of life care was sympathetic and caring, not only for him, but also for me which made a very difficult time just a little bit easier.

We cannot express enough how happy we feel about the care and compassion provided at The Grange. You can tell the Care workers and Nurses genuinely love and care for their residents.
To us; care with dignity is what matters most, and this Care home can pride itself with exactly that!!

My mum was a happy resident here for 17 months before she sadly passed away on March 24th 2019. She settled in quickly at the start and felt at home due to the sensible care and her relationship with her carer's They treated her with respect and dignity, with an emphasis on treating residents as people
with feelings despite their elderly and dementia conditions.
Mum loved the home cooked food. The cook would try to tempt and encourage Mum with different food's in an attempt to build her up when she became poorly. I felt it was thoughtful. Overall, nothing seemed too much trouble at The Grange.

My uncle very reluctantly moved into The Grange when it became impossible to look after him at home. His en-suite bedroom in Hardwicke Unit was spacious, bright, clean and comfortable and the staff were extremely caring and kind. Initially, the food was not to his taste but that was soon resolved and
freshly made cups of tea were available throughout the day whenever he asked for it. Boredom of sitting in a very quiet sitting room every day was overcome by the activity ladies ensuring that he was taken downstairs to a more lively area where he had company and enjoyed the wide range of activities and entertainment and he was also taken out for a ride. I am so pleased that he spent the last four months of his life in familiar surroundings that are secure and safe, where he could watch rabbits, squirrels and deer in the beautiful gardens and thank the staff for the excellent care and attention they showed to him and for making me feel so welcome during my visits.

From the very start, staff have been so caring and kind that my mother has transitioned to living here without even asking to come home. We are so relieved that she is so safe and well cared for and I have no hesitation in recommending The Grange to anyone who asks. The atmosphere is more friendly and
warm than any other care home we visited.
Many, many thanks to all that have contributed.

The staff are caring, gentle and patient which is everything for us. It's difficult that my husband isn't at home but I'm content because I know he is looked after and being cared for with dignity and in a professional manner. I couldn't possibly do this myself which confirms our decision and helps
us to accept the difficult reality. My husband's room and the premises, in general, have character and are always kept exceptionally tidy. I applaud The Grange Care Centre and highly recommend for those unfortunate enough to require this service.

I have visited my wife at The Grange Care Centre daily since she was admitted there with Lewi type dementia more than eight years ago. Throughout that time I simply cannot fault the specialist care provided by the nursing staff and others such as carers, cleaners and so on. Originally I was expecting
her to survive for only about two to three years and for me to still be able to visit her daily is entirely due to the excellent level of support provided to her by the exemplary staff. Inevitably her condition has progressed over time and now she is completely immobile and cannot speak, but she still recognises every visitor and enjoys every visit. We are both so lucky that this is so, thanks to the staff.

I was delighted when mum was moved here from hospital despite her limited ability. She was encouraged to socialise and mobilise by the carers whenever she was strong enough. This did her a world of good. Sadly she wasn't able to enjoy the home for longer.
The carers were extra sensitive in the weeks
leading to mums death.
It was also comforting when a delegation from the care home attended the funeral

Any time I have visited, I have found the staff to be committed to the care of my father and responsive to his needs. They are welcoming whenever my mother and I visit and are happy for me to leave my mother there for a couple of hours with my dad. They can see the benefits of my mother staying with
her husband and allow her to have a meal with him.

The regular staff are pleasant and accommodating and we are always informed if my dad's condition changes.

A care home devoted to its residents in a beautiful house and grounds with modern accommodation with enthusiastic, committed staff. The residents come first and nothing is too much trouble. Activities are much to the fore and the people who find things difficult are treated with kindness, conversation
or just a hug and a hand to hold. Food, so important, is tasty and plentiful. Cream teas, entertainment and recently a village-like feel to the home with a little post office where you can get your stamps if you wish and a 'pub'. Coffees, teas, soft drinks. With all these things a comfy chair, peace and quiet, caring staff (both cleaning and medical) who smile through the day and we are so much appreciated. A dementia home from home.

We have found The Grange to be an outstanding care home. The staff are without exception, kind, caring, thoughtful and understanding. They cope wonderfully with everything that residents with dementia can throw at them (sometimes, literally!) and have amazing patience and tolerance.
The home provides
a range of environments and activities for residents - this week, for example; they held a pancake afternoon, St David's Day tea, cheese and wine party.

The staff were fantastic more than that they were brilliant, my father did not want to go into a home at all but soon found his feet, they settled him in and really really cared about him. There are no words to express our gratitude they made our lives easy at the end of his. They treated him like
he had been there for years, cared beyond their normal duties. This was the best end of his life we could have ever hoped for, we thank them ALL from the bottom of our hearts for ALL of their hard work and dedication. Very professional team of staff, nothing was too much trouble I hope they are all proud of the work they do each day. THANK YOU The Grange xx

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.527)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.527) out of 10 for Oldbury House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 18 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.602 for Oldbury House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (155 Excellents x 5) + (37 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) + (8 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 206 Ratings = 4.602
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.925 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Oldbury House Care Home is based on 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.925
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 75 registered maximum number of service users is 15, which has been reached with 17 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
