Hafod House Residential Home is currently hiring Bank Senior Care Assistants to join our dedicated healthcare team. We are looking for individuals who are flexible and able to work either days, nights or weekends. In this role, you will lead and support care teams, ensuring safe, effective, and compassionate care is delivered in line with residents’ individual needs, company policies, and all legal and regulatory frameworks. The Senior Care Assistant acts as a role model for high standards of practice, provides supervision and guidance to care staff, and contributes to the overall wellbeing and quality of life of residents.

Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a first point of contact for care teams, providing direction, guidance, and support.
- Lead and supervise care staff on shift, ensuring care is delivered to a high standard and in line with residents’ assessed needs.
- Ensure effective shift handovers are carried out, communicating clearly and professionally.
- Conduct staff supervision and appraisals, supporting development and performance.
- Contribute to staff induction, mentoring, and training to build skills, confidence, and teamwork.
- Promote a positive, inclusive, and professional team culture that reflects company values.
- Support residents with all aspects of daily living, including personal hygiene, mobility, dressing, nutrition, and hydration, in a way that promotes dignity, choice, and independence.
- Encourage meaningful activities, social interaction, and engagement to promote residents’ physical and emotional wellbeing.
- Monitor residents’ wellbeing, recognising and reporting any changes in physical, cognitive, or emotional health.
- Review the daily delivery of care, including pressure damage prevention, nutrition, and infection prevention and control procedures. Ensure high standards of care delivery are maintained.
- Be responsible for the safe and appropriate management, administration and recording of medication.
- Provide sensitive and compassionate end-of-life care, supporting residents and families.
- Ensure that clear, accurate, and contemporaneous records and communication systems relating to care delivery are maintained and effectively used.
- Ensure confidentiality and data protection requirements are met at all times.
- Ensure the safety of residents, staff, and visitors through systematic monitoring, risk management, and compliance with policies.
- Respond promptly and effectively to emergencies such as medical incidents, evacuations, or safeguarding concerns.
- Report all accidents and incidents promptly in accordance with Surecare policies and procedures.
- Monitor equipment and the environment for safety, reporting defects or hazards promptly.
- Support a safe, homely, and positive environment for residents.
- Maintain own skills, knowledge, and professional development, completing compulsory training and competencies.
- Always act within the scope of competence, escalating matters outside of own role or expertise.
- Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion, respecting the individuality and rights of residents and colleagues.
- Promote the professional image of the services through excellent communication, appropriate behaviour, and professional appearance.
Qualifications and Requirements:
· NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent).
· Previous experience working as a Senior Carer or Care Assistant in a care home setting.
· Compassionate, patient, and committed to providing high-quality care.
· Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
· Medication administration training (or willingness to complete).
· Satisfactory Enhanced DBS check.
