More Than Meals. More Than a Kitchen. A Chance to Make Someone's Day Better.
For many people living in a care home, mealtimes are among the most important moments of the day.
A familiar breakfast, a favourite dessert, a welcoming dining room, a warm smile, or simply having a meal served with kindness can bring comfort, joy, reassurance, and a sense of home.
As a Kitchen Assistant, you play a vital role in making these moments happen.
This isn't just about preparing food or maintaining cleanliness. It's about creating an environment where residents feel valued, cared for, and able to enjoy one of life's greatest pleasures, good food shared in a safe, welcoming atmosphere.
Every meal you help deliver contributes to a resident's health, wellbeing, independence, and quality of life.
Why This Role Matters
Food is far more than nutrition, it provides comfort, routine, enjoyment, social connection, and often some of the most meaningful moments in a resident's day.
The work you do behind the scenes directly affects how residents experience life in our home.
Your contribution helps ensure residents:
- Enjoy meals in a welcoming and relaxed environment.
- Receive the nutrition and hydration they need to stay healthy and well.
- Feel respected and cared for through every dining experience.
- Have confidence in the cleanliness, safety, and quality of the home.
- Experience comfort, familiarity, and dignity every day.
When residents enjoy their meals, maintain their wellbeing, and feel at home, you will know that your work has made a genuine difference.
What Success Looks Like
Success in this role is not measured by how many dishes are washed or how many cleaning tasks are completed.
Success is measured by the outcomes you help create.
You'll know you're succeeding when:
- Residents look forward to mealtimes and enjoy their dining experience.
- Food is presented safely, efficiently, and with care.
- Residents receive meals that support their wellbeing and nutritional needs.
- The kitchen and dining areas remain clean, safe, and welcoming.
- Colleagues can deliver excellent care because they can rely on the smooth operation of the kitchen.
- High standards of food hygiene and safety are consistently maintained.
- Residents and families have confidence in the quality of the service provided.
- The home maintains an environment that feels warm, professional, and homely.
The Difference You'll Make
As a Kitchen Assistant, you will contribute to positive outcomes by:
- Supporting the delivery of enjoyable and nourishing mealtime experiences.
- Helping create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for residents.
- Ensuring food preparation and service run smoothly and safely.
- Maintaining excellent standards of cleanliness and infection prevention.
- Supporting residents' health through safe food handling and hygiene practices.
- Working closely with the Cook and wider team to provide a high-quality service.
- Helping ensure residents receive meals that are prepared and served with dignity and care.
- Contributing to an environment where residents can feel comfortable, relaxed, and at home.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for people who understand that every role in a care home has the power to improve someone's day.
You will be someone who:
- Takes pride in maintaining high standards.
- Understands the importance of cleanliness, safety, and food hygiene.
- Enjoys working as part of a team.
- Has a positive and caring attitude.
- Pays attention to detail.
- Is reliable, organised, and committed to doing things properly.
- Understands that residents are at the heart of everything we do.
Previous kitchen or catering experience is welcomed but not essential. We can provide training and support. What matters most is your attitude, work ethic, and commitment to creating a positive experience for residents.
Our Commitment to Quality
We are committed to providing safe, high-quality services that promote residents' wellbeing, dignity, and quality of life.
As a Kitchen Assistant, you play a key role in helping us achieve this by maintaining excellent standards of food safety, cleanliness, teamwork, and resident experience.

- Be part of a supportive and friendly team.
- Develop valuable skills and experience.
- Receive ongoing training and development.
- Work in an environment where your contribution is recognised and valued.
- Build a career within a sector that genuinely changes lives.
Join Our Team
