Job summary

To provide high-quality, person-centred care and support to residents with mental health needs, promoting dignity, independence, wellbeing, and quality of life. The Care Assistant will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure residents receive compassionate and professional care in a safe and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with personal care, including washing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility.
  • Support residents with daily living activities while encouraging independence wherever possible.
  • Build positive and therapeutic relationships with residents, promoting emotional wellbeing and social engagement.
  • Observe, monitor, and report any changes in residents' physical, mental, or emotional health to nursing staff.
  • Support residents with meals, hydration, and nutrition in accordance with care plans.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation as required.
  • Participate in recreational and therapeutic activities that enhance residents' quality of life.
  • Ensure residents are treated with dignity, respect, and compassion at all times.
  • Follow safeguarding procedures and report any concerns regarding resident welfare.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents.
  • Comply with all health and safety, infection control, confidentiality, and medication policies.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, healthcare professionals, families, and visitors.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience working in a care setting.
  • Experience supporting individuals with mental health conditions.
  • NVQ/QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or willingness to work towards).
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and person-centred care principles.
  • Understanding of mental health recovery and wellbeing approaches.

Working Conditions

  • Shift 8am - 8pm, 1 hour break, includes working weekends, and bank holidays.
  • Ability to undertake manual handling tasks in accordance with training.
  • Participation in mandatory training and ongoing professional development.
  • Attend 2 day paid Induction
