Overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic, passionate, experienced Activities Coordinator to come and join our family team at Well Springs Nursing Home. The Activities Coordinator will lead engaging programmes within a care home. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing a variety of recreational activities that promote social interaction, mental stimulation, and overall well-being for residents. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of older adults by fostering an inclusive and vibrant community environment. A family-run Nursing Home set within idyllic, peaceful grounds in Bradford that prides itself on doing things differently. Our home offers residential nursing and dementia care to 63 elderly residents with beautifully furnished bedrooms, attractive gardens and a relaxing atmosphere.

Duties

  • Help service users to socialise within the Home and provide a variety of activities that cater for all tastes.
  • Complete individual social history forms.
  • Plan and initiate monthly rolling / individual programmes and encourage service users to maintain pre-existing hobbies.
  • Encourage Staff Members, Relatives and Friends to participate in the Home’s activities.
  • Accompany service users, where necessary, to off site activities, which may occasionally take place outside normal working hours.
  • Help to create an atmosphere that suits individual service users within the home.
  • Assist service users if they wish to use computer equipment provided by Social Services.
  • If requested, arrange ordering of personal items for service users.
  • Assist with fund raising and budgeting for entertainments, materials and outings.
  • Practice maximum integrity in all dealings with service users personal affairs, and avoid abuse of the privileged relationship that exists with service users.
  • Maintain full and accurate records of daily activities using appropriate documentation, and provide documentation to enable the Nurse In Charge to review and update service users care plans.
  • Cover for staff shortages as directed by Registered Manager/ Nurse In Charge.
  • Provide comfort and company, on a one to one basis, for service users who are unable to undertake any form of activity.
  • Participate in Staff and Client meetings as and when required.

Budgetary Control

  • Liaise with the Office when ordering activity supplies.

Human Resources

  • Provide activity induction for any voluntary workers.
  • Provide voluntary workers with a schedule of activities to be completed in your absence.
  • Ensure relevant Staff Members (including voluntary workers) know how to use appropriate activity equipment.
  • Attend mandatory training days / courses, on or off site, as and when required.
  • Maintain professional knowledge and competence.

  • Qualifications Required: Proven ability to develop and organise a range of events / activities for service users in all service user categories. Experience in caring for the elderly.
