We understand the importance of good nutrition and home-cooked meals in promoting health and well-being and are looking for a dedicated Weekend Cook to join our team.
The Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and reliable Weekend Cook to prepare nutritious, appetising meals for our residents while maintaining high standards of food hygiene and safety. You will work closely with the management team to provide varied menus that cater to individual dietary needs and preferences.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook nutritious meals, desserts and snacks for residents.
- Cater for specialist diets, including fortified, soft, and modified diets.
- Ensure all food is prepared and served in accordance with food hygiene regulations and HACCP principles.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised kitchen environment.
- Monitor stock levels and report shortages to the management team.
- Ensure all records relating to food temperatures, cleaning schedules and allergens are completed accurately.
- Promote resident choice and encourage feedback regarding menus and meals.
- Work within budget whilst maintaining high standards of quality and presentation.
About You
- Previous experience in a cooking or catering role is essential, preferably within a care home, healthcare or hospitality setting.
- Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate is desirable, although training can be provided.
- Knowledge of allergens and modified diets would be advantageous.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- A caring and professional approach with excellent communication skills.
- Reliable, organised and able to maintain high standards under pressure.
