Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, with some on-call responsibilities

Heatherside Rest Home is looking for an enthusiastic, compassionate and motivated Deputy Manager to support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of our friendly residential care home.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced senior care professional who is passionate about delivering outstanding person-centred care and leading by example.
The role is a combination of office-based management duties and working on the floor alongside the care team, ensuring the highest standards of care are consistently maintained.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Registered Manager with the effective day-to-day operation of the home.
- Lead, supervise and motivate the care team to deliver high-quality, person-centred care.
- Complete and review person-centred care plans.
- Undertake and regularly review risk assessments.
- Liaise professionally with GPs, district nurses, community healthcare professionals and other multidisciplinary teams.
- Order, monitor and manage residents' medication in line with policies and best practice.
- Ensure accurate record keeping and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Support with audits, quality assurance and continuous improvement.
- Assist with staff supervision, mentoring and training.
- Participate in the home's on-call rota and respond appropriately to out-of-hours issues.
- Maintain excellent communication with residents, relatives and external professionals.
- Promote a positive, caring and supportive culture throughout the home.
What We're Looking For
The successful candidate will have:
- Previous experience in a senior care role, such as Senior Carer, Team Leader or Deputy Manager.
- A good understanding of person-centred care and current care legislation.
- Experience writing and reviewing care plans and risk assessments.
- Knowledge of medication management and administration.
- Excellent organisational, communication and leadership skills.
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Confidence liaising with healthcare professionals and families.
- A calm and proactive approach to problem solving.
Essential:
- NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Health & Social Care or willing to work towards
- A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle would be advantageous.
Desirable:
- NVQ/QCF Level 5 in Leadership for Health & Social Care (or willingness to work towards it).
- Previous experience in a residential care setting.
- Knowledge of CQC standards and regulatory requirements.
