Join Our Team

Heatherside Rest Home is looking for an enthusiastic, compassionate and motivated Deputy Manager to support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of our friendly residential care home.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced senior care professional who is passionate about delivering outstanding person-centred care and leading by example.

The role is a combination of office-based management duties and working on the floor alongside the care team, ensuring the highest standards of care are consistently maintained.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Registered Manager with the effective day-to-day operation of the home.
  • Lead, supervise and motivate the care team to deliver high-quality, person-centred care.
  • Complete and review person-centred care plans.
  • Undertake and regularly review risk assessments.
  • Liaise professionally with GPs, district nurses, community healthcare professionals and other multidisciplinary teams.
  • Order, monitor and manage residents' medication in line with policies and best practice.
  • Ensure accurate record keeping and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Support with audits, quality assurance and continuous improvement.
  • Assist with staff supervision, mentoring and training.
  • Participate in the home's on-call rota and respond appropriately to out-of-hours issues.
  • Maintain excellent communication with residents, relatives and external professionals.
  • Promote a positive, caring and supportive culture throughout the home.

What We're Looking For

The successful candidate will have:

  • Previous experience in a senior care role, such as Senior Carer, Team Leader or Deputy Manager.
  • A good understanding of person-centred care and current care legislation.
  • Experience writing and reviewing care plans and risk assessments.
  • Knowledge of medication management and administration.
  • Excellent organisational, communication and leadership skills.
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Confidence liaising with healthcare professionals and families.
  • A calm and proactive approach to problem solving.

Essential:

  • NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Health & Social Care or willing to work towards
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle would be advantageous.

Desirable:

  • NVQ/QCF Level 5 in Leadership for Health & Social Care (or willingness to work towards it).
  • Previous experience in a residential care setting.
  • Knowledge of CQC standards and regulatory requirements.
