Job Overview
The Domestic Staff member is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, comfortable and welcoming environment for residents, visitors and staff throughout the home.
The postholder will ensure that all communal areas, residents' bedrooms, bathrooms and other facilities are cleaned and maintained to a high standard in accordance with organisational policies, infection prevention and control procedures, and health and safety requirements.
The Domestic Staff member will work closely with the management team, care staff and kitchen team to promote a safe, hygienic and homely environment that supports residents' wellbeing, dignity and quality of life.
This role is based on a rota and may include weekends and bank holidays as required.
The Domestic Staff member will report to the Home Manager and the Director of Operations and Compliance.
Roles and Responsibilities
· Clean residents' bedrooms, bathrooms, communal areas, offices and other designated areas to a consistently high standard.
· Ensure all cleaning duties are completed in accordance with infection prevention and control procedures and organisational policies.
· Follow cleaning schedules and complete all allocated tasks within agreed timeframes.
· Safely use, store and maintain cleaning equipment and chemicals in accordance with COSHH regulations.
· Replenish cleaning supplies, toiletries and hygiene products as required, reporting low stock levels promptly.
· Dispose of waste safely and appropriately, following waste management procedures.
· Support laundry duties where required, including washing, drying, ironing, folding and returning residents' clothing and linen.
· Report any maintenance issues, hazards, damage or equipment faults promptly.
· Help maintain a safe, tidy and welcoming environment.
· Respect residents' privacy, dignity and personal belongings whilst carrying out cleaning duties.
· Work collaboratively with colleagues.
· Respond positively and courteously to residents, visitors and colleagues.
· Complete cleaning records where required.
· Attend mandatory training, team meetings and supervisions.
· Follow Health and Safety, Fire Safety, Infection Prevention and Control, Manual Handling and Safeguarding policies.
· Undertake any other reasonable duties consistent with the role.

Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
· Previous domestic, housekeeping or cleaning experience.
· Good understanding of infection prevention and control principles.
· Ability to work safely using cleaning chemicals and equipment.
· Willingness to undertake mandatory training and continuous professional development.
Desirable:
· Previous experience working within a residential care home, nursing home, healthcare or hospitality setting.
· Knowledge of COSHH regulations.
· Experience with laundry services and linen management.
· Awareness of safeguarding, dementia care and person-centred care principles.
