Job summary
Highfield Private Rest Home is a welcoming 30-bed care home supporting individuals aged 65 and over. Situated in the historic Cinque Port town of Hythe, we pride ourselves on providing high-quality, person-centred care in a warm and homely environment.
We are currently seeking a Senior Carer to join our dedicated team. This is a hands-on role for someone who is passionate about delivering excellent care, supporting residents with dignity and compassion, and leading by example on shift.
About the role
As a Senior Carer, you will work alongside the care team to ensure residents receive safe, respectful, and consistent care. You will support residents with daily living, provide guidance to care staff on shift, and help maintain high standards across the home.
Shift pattern:
- Day shifts: 8am - 8pm
- Permanent contract, average 36 hours per week
- Rolling rota: 2 shifts week one / 4 shifts week two. Working alternate weekends.
In this role, you will:
- Provide compassionate, person-centered care, ensuring residents’ dignity, comfort, and wellbeing at all times
- Assist residents with personal care, mobility, mealtimes, and daily activities, respecting individual choices and preferences
- Offer emotional reassurance and support to residents and their families
- Take a senior role on shift, supporting and guiding care staff
- Work closely with colleagues to create a positive, calm, and supportive environment
- Observe, monitor, and report any changes in residents’ wellbeing
- Support medication administration in line with training and policy
- Ensure accurate record keeping and effective handovers
About you
- Caring, patient, and empathetic, with a genuine passion for supporting older people
- A team player who leads by example and supports others
- Experienced in a care home or similar care setting
- Holds, or is willing to work towards, a Level 3 NVQ (or equivalent) in Health & Social Care
- Confident, reliable, and committed to high standards of care
