Job summary

Job Overview: (Note - In addition to these functions, employees are required to carry out such duties as may reasonably be required)

·  To provide domestic/housekeeping services within the home in accordance with agreed standards, legislative requirements, relevant regulations and in line with accepted best practice.

·  To follow and implement appropriate infection control systems.

·  To carry out cleaning of all areas of the home to a high standard, using the required cleaning products identified for each area.

·  To ensure the completion of all required documentation, such as daily cleaning schedules.

Responsibilities and Duties of the Job

Role-specific Duties:

The Housekeeper responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

·  Cleaning residents’ bedrooms and ensuites in line with the agreed cleaning schedule

·  Cleaning communal areas and bathrooms of the home in line with the agreed cleaning schedule

·  Emptying bins regularly to ensure waste is removed from the home

·  Completing all relevant documentation on a daily basis, including cleaning schedules

·  Using all equipment provided safely and in line with manufacturer’s instructions and training

·  Reporting any equipment faults, or damage/breakages, immediately to the Head Housekeeper

·  Using and storing all chemicals safely and securely

·  Ordering cleaning supplies to maintain appropriate stock levels

·  Promoting the welfare of residents at all times

Working with Others:

·  Developing effective working relationships with other employees within the home

·  Assisting with the induction of new domestic/housekeeping team members

·  Communicating respectfully with residents, staff and visitors at all times

Personal and Professional Development:

·  Completing mandatory training and any other training, as directed by the Home Manager

·  Taking responsibility for your own professional development through performance and development reviews and any relevant training

·  Maintaining appropriate housekeeping skills, including undertaking training and development which may, from time-to-time, be required

·  Maintaining up-to-date knowledge about the specific machines and products used in the home

·  Taking responsibility for understanding the health and safety requirements of the role

·  Understanding and following any relevant risk assessments

·  Seeking opportunities for personal and professional growth

Skills / Qualifications:

  • "Previous care-home housekeeping experience is desirable but not essential."
