Deputy Care Home Manager

At the Royal Hospital Chelsea, we provide a home, community and high-quality care for Chelsea Pensioners: Army veterans who have served the Nation. We are seeking a Deputy Matron to help lead registered care across the Margaret Thatcher Infirmary and Domiciliary Care service, supporting Pensioners to live well, remain independent where possible and receive outstanding care as their needs change.

About our registered care services

Our registered care services are designed around the changing needs of Chelsea Pensioners, from support in their own berths through Domiciliary Care to more specialist care in the 66-bed Margaret Thatcher Infirmary. Together, these services provide safe, regulated and person-centred care, including nursing, dementia, and end-of-life care.

The role

This is a visible, practical and influential leadership role. You will support the Registered Manager in leading safe, responsive and person-centred care, while staying close to the day-to-day work of the teams. We need someone confident setting standards, present on the floor and ready to roll up their sleeves when it matters.

What you will do

• Lead registered care services day to day, staying visible, practical and supporting the teams.
• Support safe staffing, clinical standards, compliance, safeguarding and CQC readiness.
• Build trusted relationships with Pensioners, families, colleagues and partners, sharing learning and driving improvement.

You will be a registered Adult Nurse with a current NMC PIN, experience in elderly or geriatric care, strong clinical judgement and a good understanding of CQC requirements.

You will bring a calm, approachable and hands-on leadership style, with the confidence to set standards, support people and step in when needed.

We would also value

• Experience supervising clinical teams and supporting improvement.
• Knowledge of clinical risk, quality assurance and regulatory compliance.
• Evidence of continuing professional development, ideally including ILM Level 5 or willingness to work towards it.
