About the Role

Claremont Nursing Home is looking for a dedicated and experienced Chef to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who takes pride in preparing fresh, nutritious, well-balanced, and enjoyable meals and wants to make a positive difference to the daily lives of our residents.

You will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the kitchen, preparing meals in line with the planned menu and ensuring residents’ individual dietary requirements, preferences, and nutritional needs are carefully considered.

Daily Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks in line with the daily menu.

• Prepare meals according to residents’ individual dietary requirements, allergies, preferences, and nutritional needs.

• Cater for soft, pureed, texture-modified, diabetic, and other specialist diets where required.

• Ensure meals are well-presented, appropriately portioned, appetising, and served at the correct temperature.

• Maintain high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness, and kitchen safety at all times.

• Complete required food safety records, including temperature checks, cleaning schedules, and other kitchen documentation.

• Monitor food supplies and assist with stock control, ordering, and checking deliveries.

• Ensure ingredients are fresh, properly stored, and used efficiently while helping to minimise food waste.

• Keep kitchen areas, equipment, utensils, and preparation surfaces clean, organised, and hygienic.

• Work closely with care staff regarding residents’ dietary requirements and changing needs.

• Support a positive dining experience by ensuring meals are varied, nutritious, and presented to a high standard.

• Follow all health and safety, infection control, and food hygiene procedures.

• Work effectively with colleagues to ensure meals are prepared and served on time and to a consistently high standard.

• Report any concerns regarding allergies, dietary requirements, food supplies, equipment, or kitchen safety to the appropriate manager.

We are looking for someone who is:

• Experienced in working as a Chef

• Passionate about cooking and preparing quality meals

• Knowledgeable about food hygiene and safe food handling

• Comfortable catering for different dietary requirements

• Reliable, organised, and able to manage the kitchen effectively

• Able to work well independently and as part of a team

• Caring and respectful towards residents

• Ideally experienced within a care home, nursing home, hospital, or similar setting
