Job Summary
1. JOB PURPOSE
· The purpose of a Staff Nurse is to lead staff to provide good quality care for residents ensuring best practice.
· The Staff Nurse should anticipate the needs of unit and be proactive in ensuring the correct risks assessments are in place to maintain a safe environment for both staff and residents.
· To ensure high standards of quality assurance are maintained and completed in a timely manor.
· To ensure high standards of infection control are maintained.
· Coach and support staff to deliver high standards of care
2. WORKING PATTERN
· 12 hours shifts between Monday – Sunday working days or nights.
· Contracts include: 12, 24, 36 and 48 hours
3. MAIN ROLES AND RESPONSIBILIES
General Duties
· MDT Meeting preparation
· QCS – keeping up to date following the companies policies and procedures
· Administration of prescribed medications.
· Ensure residents and staff are safe.
· Provide coaching, mentoring and support for new and existing staff.
· Conduct Supervisions for Care Assistant on the Units
· Complete diary jobs
· Ensure Rota and staffing levels are managed each shift.
· To commence the care plan process for all new residents who are admitted into the home
· Completion of assessments for potential new residents
· Attend the daily ops meetings.
· Ensure PEEPs are up to date and reflective.
· Ensure staff complete Datix following any incidents / accidents – (this should be completed by the person who witnessed it first).
· Clinical Compliance – wound dressings, checking catheters, residents on dialysis.
· Supervise Senior Care Assistants to ensure they are doing their role (running the floor, checking supplementary are being completed, ensuring that residents are well cared for, clean and presentable)
· Night Staff Nurse to sign off all supplementary charts for the unit.
· Night Staff Nurse to complete allocation for the next day at handover.
· Provide a detailed handover to the next shift ensuring that staffing levels are safe during this period.
· Build relationships with families of residents and external professionals.
· Booking in of monthlies medications, ordering monthlies medications
· Site Cover – holding the site cover book and moving staff around site to ensure this is safe (due to sickness or absence)
· Attend weekly ops MDT.

· Daily Walkaround Audit
· Weekly Dining Audit
· Weekly Weights Tracker Completion
· Weekly Wound + Catheter Tracker Completion
· Actioning Senior Management Audits which may include Care Plan Audits, Medication Audits, Maintenance and Cleanliness Walkarounds and Daily Walkarounds Audits

· To be a named Nurse for an allocated amount of residents
· To be an Associate Nurse for an allocated amount resident
