The Role
You will take responsibility of the clinical, operational and commercial performance, setting clear priorities and remaining visible to residents, families and colleagues. Strengthening safety, governance and leadership will be central to your work, with a clear plan to deliver and sustain quality improvements.
You will develop colleagues’ understanding of complex dementia, helping them recognise behaviour as communication and respond to distress with compassion and consistency. Care plans and risk assessments must reflect each person’s history, preferences, communication needs and changing presentation, protecting dignity and supporting quality of life.
Alongside clinical quality, you will improve recruitment and retention, reduce agency reliance and grow appropriate occupancy through strong relationships with families and referral partners. You will use workforce, financial and quality information to guide decisions and hold the team accountable for progress.
You will also coordinate the planned refurbishment, managing milestones and risks while keeping residents safe and minimising disruption to their daily lives.
About You
You will be a Registered Mental Health Nurse with current NMC registration and proven Home Manager experience in specialist older people’s care, particularly advanced and complex dementia. You will bring a strong understanding of clinical governance, safeguarding and CQC requirements, with evidence of improving services and developing teams.
Commercially aware and confident leading change, you will be able to turn priorities into an achievable operational plan. Strong project management, sound judgement and the ability to build trust with families, professionals and colleagues will be essential.
We are looking for a compassionate, hands-on leader who supports colleagues to learn, sets clear standards and follows through. You will bring the commitment to build lasting improvements and help Mayflower develop its specialist capability.
Why Lead Mayflower
Mayflower offers the opportunity to shape both a specialist service and the environment in which care is delivered. You will build on the knowledge of an established team, develop its confidence and help create a more stable workforce around residents whose needs require continuity and understanding.
With a refurbishment planned and scope to grow the service, your leadership will have a visible impact. You will have access to operational, clinical, quality, learning and development, recruitment, business development and commercial expertise across the division.
