Hours: 8am to 2pm, five days a week, including alternate weekends.

Make mealtimes something to look forward to
A warm welcome, a nicely laid table and remembering how someone takes their tea can make a real difference to a resident's day. Foxholes is a family-run residential care home on the edge of Hitchin, and we are looking for a friendly, reliable Dining Room Host to look after breakfast, lunch and the moments in between.

With shifts finishing at 2pm, you keep your afternoons and evenings free.

Your day will include

• Setting up the dining room for breakfast and lunch, with clean, neatly laid tables.
• Greeting residents and serving meals and drinks, following each resident's preferences and dietary needs.
• Taking meals and drinks to residents who prefer to eat in their rooms.
• Supporting residents at mealtimes with gentle encouragement and friendly conversation.
• Running the mid-morning tea round.
• Clearing tables, collecting trays and washing up so everything is ready for the next service.
• Keeping the dining and serving areas clean and tidy, following food hygiene, allergen and infection control routines.

This is an active role, on your feet and moving trays and trolleys. It does not include personal care.

About you

• A warm, cheerful manner and you enjoy chatting with older people.
• Organised and dependable, and happy to follow set routines.
• Experience as a waitress, cafe or catering assistant, or in hotels or hospitality is helpful but not essential. Full training is given.
• Food Hygiene Level 2, or willing to complete it with us.
