Scrapbooking activities at Woodstock Residential Care Centre

Last Updated: 15 Feb 2017 @ 00:00 AM

Residents at Woodstock Residential Care Centre enjoyed reminiscing over photos of themselves and the activities they’ve been doing last week.

They flicked through photos of music and exercise sessions they’ve taken part in, games and entertainment they’ve enjoyed, before adding them to their scrapbooks. These are then left in the residents rooms so their families and friends can look through them and chat with their loved one about the photos.

Scrapbooking is very therapeutic for everyone at Woodstock. Remembering the past (distant and recent) can bring a great deal of satisfaction and understanding. It is a way to affirm who we are, what we’ve accomplished in our lives, and it provides an opportunity to relive happy times. For residents who have dementia, it can help them to talk easily about things they remember.
