Our ‘flipping’ brilliant spring get-together served up plenty of treats as our popular ‘banger’ of a BBQ became well-worthy of a burger (or two!).
From balloons, bunting & ice-cold beverages to succulent good mood food, we enjoyed family time and good old ‘ketchup’s’ as we topped the day with flavour, fun & a spot of rare UK sun!
Sizzling with a helping of sentiment and a side order of joy, we welcomed our Residents, families & loved ones with open arms from our tranquil garden all the way through to our sun-soaked courtyard.
Beginning proceedings with some phoDOGraphy – we were graced by the presence of our pawsome friend ‘Percy’, who Veronica loved!
Smiling into the gorgeous eyes of our furry friend, she said: “Well aren’t you just lovely!” Never off key, there was no place Charles would rather be as he played ‘air piano’ to a table of intrigued spectators! Crowd pleasing as ever, this magic moment quickly became a duet as we dialled in to his musical set.
In response to hearing that one guest would be driving all the way from Bath, Geoffrey (quick witted as ever) comically quipped in response: “oh won’t he get wet?” much to the amusement of many. With the comedy just getting started, he went on to wear his cap back to front, before saying: “do I look cool then?”
Following in a similar tune, Larry (who collects a baseball cap from everywhere he has visited) opted for ‘San Fransisco’ on this fine day as he globetrotted his way across the courtyard to take a peek at our kebabs, sausages & burgers on display. Back from the Pub? Our local famous Devonshire Arms opened its doors (not for the first time) as we relaxed with our choice of drink.
Unable to contain her excitement, Ginette and her husband Ian danced hand in hand as they took an opportune moment to get a great photo together.
On what became more and more of a lovely day, - Margret R can be seen beaming with happiness as she stood under our umbrellas of hope, taking in the gentle & pleasant atmosphere that was more ‘felt’ than heard.
“Roger that” - our day guests mingled with our Residents, families and loved ones as it was smiles all around for our visitors. Epitomising a thirst for more - Jacqui’s daughter Lidi goes for second helpings in more ways than one as she filled her plate for more community spirit, conversation & fun.
From everyone at Devonshire Dementia Care Home & Day Centre, we hope everyone who attended had the day that they deserved. It was our great pleasure to host you!
