Devonshire Dementia Care Home & Day Centre

Excellent, genuinely caring, lovely staff. Dad tells me regularly how friendly everyone is and that they look after him very well. The day centre is fantastic, keeping dad mentally stimulated, which has been scientifically proven to help slow progression. I am convinced dad's ability to keep mobile and talking, is due to the friendly sociable atmosphere and daily activities he does at the day centre. The decor in the home is a little dated, but I'd much rather money was spent on the fantastic staff, food and facilities. The Devonshire feels homely, warm and safe. Dad is the happiest I've ever known him and very well looked after, which is all that I could want for him in his twilight years. Thank you all for doing a smashing job.

It's not easy to give a full detailed view of Devonshire Care Home in this space. I had visited quite a number prior to my first visit. What impressed me was the apparent standard of care and tolerance of staff. I should say I ave experienced the opposite and unfortunately removed my wife within three days from one so called care home. Fortunatley my impression was correct. I have learnt in time that Dementia is a degrading disease and affects the sufferer in many different ways. Some can be aggressive others loose physical as well as mental capacity and all seem to change character. I visit my wife most days when possible and the staff are nothing short of excellent. I have not even once witnessed a carer being impatient or inappropriate or unkind. Thus us what makes Devonshire special. I am 83 and have been married for 59 years and her condition was such that I realised my own health was being affected and I was unable to give her the care she needed. Thank god for Devonshire and my wife is happy there, notwithstanding of course we would both prefer to be together. Thank you to Devonshire staff.

I would highly recommend Devonshire to any one looking for dementia care, their knowledge of dementia shows in the care and activities they provide.

I have every respect for them doing what is a very difficult job. As a family we believe it provides the best care for my husband.

Well, my goodness they were right. Since he has been there, he is now started to feed himself. He is far more alert. His progress is absolutely phenomenal every time he's picked up. They say good morning to him and when they drop him home they say good night we hope you've had a good day. My husband is also speaking more because they put the time and effort into helping him. I cannot find fault in this home at all.

Welcome and always felt part of loving environment. Sadly dad passed in March and whilst I miss him terribly I feel comforted knowing the last 2 and a half years of his life couldn't have been better.

It really makes a difference to know that my mum is safe and happy and well looked after. Her huge smile to the carers says it all.

Every Wednesday a minor miracle takes place, a random group of sufferers from dementia meet for a coffee morning and singsong. My husband can't sing a note in tune - no matter. The staff are wonderful. They are welcoming and treat everyone as a friend. They know what everyone's favourite song is and there is music. Gradually smiles appear, sometimes laughter. Staff dance with visitors, who regain some of their old self. Thank you Devonshire for giving my 95-year-old husband with Alzheimer's a weekly 2 hours of happiness.

The key factor to me is the high standard of care the staff show to the residents continually.

Staff are always kind and caring. Always a welcoming and nice atmosphere. I take my wife to the Devonshire on Wednesday mornings and she always looks forward to our visits. On occasions when I have had to leave her alone she has always had a lovely time.

We would have liked our father to have a more bespoke care plan. We gave a lot of information to the home when he first started living there about how to deal with him and distract him and the things he enjoys, but this is often not adhered to. It would be nice to see staff engaging more directly with residents.

The Devonshire Dementia Care Home and Day Centre has been an outstanding care home for my Mother. she is always well dressed and happy when I see her and is very settled after being there for early five years. She joins in all the activities and enjoys the food. She has never once complained and she is treated with the utmost respect and dignity. Mum enjoys meeting new people at the Day Centre and the activities they arrange. She is kept busy and I know she is in the best place for her.

Everyone working at Devonshire Dementia Care Home and Day Centre is so caring and kind. I can see that my mother is treated with respect and is very well looked after. I have no hesitation in recommending the Devonshire to anyone looking for a care home for a loved one with dementia.

Always understanding, caring, considerate and focused on the needs of the individual. The staff are always welcoming, warm and friendly to family members while going above and beyond in the care of the residents. Throughout the pandemic, they have been exemplary in all areas. I am so pleased and relieved that my mum is here, where she is happy almost all of the time, understood and cared for so diligently. A fantastic, happy home.

My mother-in-law passed away recently and the staff couldn't have done more to make her passing a peaceful one. Our family are sending grateful thanks for the care they gave to her and would have no hesitation in recommending The Devonshire Care Home for a family member.
