Abbot Care Home’s summer BBQ event was popular with the local community, attracting over 200 guests to join them for a day of family-friendly fun.

Abbot Care Home values its links with businesses, groups and individuals in the local community. The team at Abbot regularly welcomes groups to use activity spaces in their care home, ensuring they can remain active and benefit the people of Harlow. Due to the relationships the care home team has formed, it was no surprise to see people turning up in their numbers to the summer BBQ, making it the perfect occasion for new meetings to take place and friendships to be formed.

Abbot’s summer BBQ took months to plan, bringing together local entertainers and businesses to perform and set up stalls. Stalls present on the day included a drinks stall, a ‘Knit and Natter’ stall, a cake stall, a stall selling fudge and others occupied by local people selling handmade items.

Face painting was also offered free of charge, and a raffle was organised to support Abbot's fundraising efforts.

The event was a huge success, with guests saying how much fun they had and how impressed they were with the variety of stalls and activities available. In total, Abbot Care Home raised a staggering £1,568, which will go towards their activity fund to provide new equipment and exciting days out for the people who live at Abbot.
