What an interesting afternoon. We had a visit from lovely Quiller Hawkins this afternoon to discuss with our residents about the benefits of qigong.
Quiller says "When we slow the body down it slows the mind. Through the ancient practice of qigong (pronounced chee gong), we can unlock trapped energy in the body and put it to better use – we do this through breathing, stretching, warming up, activating key parts of the body and then moving the body in flowing movements that brings your whole body out of fight and flight into a deep and lasting relaxation"
The residents asked loads of questions and really got into the spirit of things. They were giggling and talking about how they would practice their breathing whilst lying down later. So lovely to hear them together laughing and having shared interests.
They even asked Quiller to come back for more lessons, so we will be seeing him again soon.
