AN Ardrossan care home has been named as one of the top 20 in Scotland. Abbotsford Nursing Home was chosen by residents and their families as one of the top 20 care homes in Scotland. There are 962 care homes in Scotland, with the top 20 receiving an award from carehome.co.uk, the UK's leading reviews guide to care homes. The award is based on reviews of the care home written by residents, as well as their friends and relatives. A glowing Care Inspectorate report based on a January 28 inspection said: "People's physical health and mental wellbeing were enhanced by the excellent quality of care provided by skilled, knowledgeable and responsive staff." "We would like to congratulate Abbotsford Nursing Home on being a top 20 care home in Scotland as their reviews show they provide an excellent standard of care. "It is such an achievement to be named as a top rated care home by the residents who actually receive the care as well as their family and friends." The Eglinton Road care home was awarded "excellent" gradings for supporting people's wellbeing and its staff team in the Care Inspectorate report. It currently provides residential care and nursing services for up to 39 people.
