VE80 was well and truly celebrated here at Upton Mill. It was a day packed with activities, entertainment, and some baking. Our residents all contributed in the preparation and mixing, following a wartime recipe to make orange and ginger cake! We also had a two-minute silence at 12 pm on Thursday and then awaited the arrival of the fish and chip van! Some of our residents ate out of proper cardboard boxes, and everyone said how delicious it was. We even had a lot of the Tetbury community come along to buy fish and chips!
The sun shone on Friday as the beautiful classic cars arrived. It truly was a sight to see, our residents absolutely loved talking to the car owners, it bought back lots of memories and our fabulous resident Mary wanted to sit in the Bentley to learn about its history and be shown all the buttons and gadgets inside, so we had to oblige.
Thank you to everyone who came and supported Upton Mill this week, you are all incredible. A truly brilliant week celebrating VE80.
