Pentland View care home, in Thurso, was full of wonder on Friday when Owl Adventures brought three of their beautiful owls in to visit the home. In preparation for the afternoon, residents watched documentaries to learn about these fascinating birds of prey.
Owl Adventures is a company based in England, which provides owl encounters to nurseries, care homes, weddings, etc, and they were very happy to tailor the experience to the residents’ needs, with the owls visiting both lounges and also making room visits, so that everyone who wanted to, could meet their beautiful and friendly birds.
Residents at Pentland View were pleasantly surprised to see Teddy the barn Owl, Eva the Great Horned Owl, and Diego the little white faced owl as they flew about the lounge, munched on their treats, and were held and stroked by residents, staff, and guests.
Activities coordinator, Katherine Kerr, said of the experience, “It’s amazing how three birds could bring so much enjoyment to the residents.”
Resident Marion Owen, was very excited and touched by the experience, saying, Aren’t they wonderful!” and requesting photos with each owl.
