Borovere Care Home, a Greensleeves Care home on Borovere Lane, has become the first residential and dementia care home in Alton to achieve the prestigious Gold Standards Framework (GSF) accreditation for excellence in palliative and end-of-life care.

The recognition was celebrated at the Gold Standards Framework Awards Ceremony in Birmingham, where Borovere Care Home’s achievement was formally acknowledged by the national GSF team.

Located close to the heart of Alton, Borovere Care Home offers residential, dementia and respite care in a warm and welcoming environment. The not-for-profit home provides comfortable accommodation, spacious lounges and attractive gardens, where residents enjoy an active and engaging community life. Borovere is also highly rated on carehome.co.uk, reflecting the excellent feedback from residents and their families.

The Gold Standards Framework is a nationally recognised, evidence-based programme designed to improve the quality, coordination and consistency of palliative care. Fewer than 350 care homes across the UK currently hold this accreditation, which demonstrates excellence in enabling people to live well and die well – with dignity, respect and choice.

To achieve the accreditation, Borovere Care Home’s team completed specialist GSF training, compiled a detailed evidence portfolio and underwent a rigorous in-person assessment by the national GSF team to confirm that the framework is fully embedded in the home’s care practices.

Karen Shepperdson, Home Manager at Borovere Care Home, said:

“I’m incredibly proud of our team for this wonderful achievement. The Gold Standards Framework represents the very best in end-of-life care, and achieving this accreditation shows our deep commitment to supporting residents with compassion, dignity and respect.

To be the first care home in Alton to hold the GSF accreditation is a tremendous honour and a reflection of the dedication of everyone here at Borovere. It means our residents and their families can have real confidence in the care and support that we provide right to the very end of life.”

Borovere was accredited along with 10 sister homes from across Greensleeves Care, bringing the total number of accredited homes in the charitable group to 19.
