Borovere is a long-established care home in the area, recognised for delivering residential, respite, and dementia care.

As part of Greensleeves Care, a well-regarded UK care charity focused on placing people before profit, residents benefit from flexible trial stays that help ease the move into care. They also have the security of Greensleeves Care’s ‘Home for Life’ promise, which ensures no resident will be asked to leave should their financial circumstances change.

Situated on the outskirts of Alton and surrounded by neighbouring homes, Borovere occupies its own attractive grounds. These include a peaceful secret garden and a welcoming courtyard, both of which host regular events and gatherings. The location also provides convenient access to nearby amenities such as Alton Public Gardens, along with organised community trips including pub lunches and visits to local garden centres.

The home offers spacious, fully furnished bedrooms, each with access to either an en-suite bathroom or a contemporary wet room. Residents are encouraged to personalise their spaces with treasured items, photographs, ornaments, or small pieces of furniture, to promote comfort, familiarity, and positive wellbeing.

The in-house catering team prepares fresh, nutritious meals tailored to personal tastes and dietary requirements.

I visit once a week with my therapy dog. I love going and she does too. The staff are amazing and give me a free rein now to go to the rooms of the residents that I know would like to see Willow. I hear that the food is fantastic and when coffee/tea comes round in the morning the biscuits look lovely
(homemade) All the residents I talk to are happy to be there and Andy the Activities organiser is wonderful with them. He makes them laugh.
I think maybe the only thing I would mention is the outdoor space, if more could be made of that it would be the absolute perfect place.
Reply from Paulina Stock, Home Manager at BorovereThank you so much for your lovely review and for the kindness you bring to our residents through your visits with Willow. It is always a pleasure to welcome you both, and we know how much your visits brighten everyone's day. We're delighted to hear your kind comments about our team, activities, and homemade treats.
Thank you also for your feedback regarding our outdoor space. We completely agree that it has great potential, and improving it is actually one of our next projects. We are working on it step by step, and we look forward to creating an even more enjoyable outdoor environment for everyone to relax and spend time in.
Thank you again for your continued support - we always look forward to seeing you and Willow!

Borovere Care Home has provided exceptional support for my mum since she arrived in May. The staff's kindness in helping her settle in has been outstanding, especially given her challenges with dementia. Paulina's amazing energy, Hayley's unbelievable kindness, and Michelle's straightforward approach
have been invaluable in making her feel at home. Although the transition was not easy, the staff's dedication to maintaining her dignity has been remarkable. The entertainment, featuring 60s pop music, is delightful and engages the residents meaningfully. The social media updates keep me connected, and the team's reassurance has made this difficult decision much easier for our family. Highly recommended

Mom moved into Borovere in November 25 and from the initial super warm welcome to now the staff have been absolutely fabulous. Mom was previously in another care home in another part of the country so have a direct comparison and cannot praise Borovere highly enough. She settled in very quickly, she
has put weight on and really enjoys her food. She is on a puréed diet and the effort to keep the meal elements looking different to tempt her appetite is very welcome. They even made her a birthday cake this week with strawberries and cream and puréed her piece so she could enjoy it and made her feel very special. A special mention should be made about Andy and the activities team as there is something happening every day and this makes such a difference. Very happy with the choice to move Mom to Borovere and cannot fault her care.
Reply from Paulina Stock, Home Manager at BorovereThank you so much for your wonderful review and for taking the time to share your experience.
We are truly delighted to hear that your mum has settled so well since joining Borovere and that you have been happy with the care and support she receives. It means a great deal to us to know that our team has made such a positive difference, from the warm welcome she received to ensuring her nutritional needs are met in a way that is both safe and enjoyable.
We are especially pleased that the birthday celebration made her feel so special. Creating meaningful moments like these is something our team is passionate about. I will also make sure that Andy and the activities team receive your kind words-they will be thrilled to know their dedication is appreciated.
Thank you once again for placing your trust in us and for your lovely feedback. It is a privilege to care for your mum, and we look forward to continuing to provide her with the highest standard of care.

I visited from 12:00 to 16:00. There good activities which many residents enjoyed. I had a good lunch with my mother. There was good care: friendly chat, help with moving around, medication, and so on. There was a kind, supportive atmosphere. I was made to feel welcome. A visiting dog was also a pleasure-
I'm glad they are allowed.

Sadly, my mum recently passed away in Borovere Care Home. She had been poorly for a while. The care she received at her end of life was second to none. All the staff were respectful of her needs and she was treated with dignity, care and consideration.
They were also mindful of family needs and feelings,
welcoming and updating us on each occasion we visited
I can't thank the staff enough for being there for my mum and supporting me in the last weeks of mum''s life. They made a difficult time bearable.
Well done Borovere staff.
Reply from Paulina Stock, Home Manager at BorovereThank you so much for your kind and heartfelt words. We are deeply sorry for the loss of your mum and send our sincere condolences to you and your family.
It means a great deal to hear that your mum was treated with dignity, compassion, and respect during her time with us. Providing the highest standard of care and supporting families through such difficult times is at the heart of what we do.
I will ensure that your lovely feedback is shared with the entire team, who will be touched to know that their care and support made a difference to both your mum and your family. Thank you for taking the time to recognise their dedication and kindness.
On behalf of everyone at Borovere, we are honoured to have been able to care for your mum and support you during those final weeks. We wish you and your family comfort and strength in the days ahead.

Mum has been at the Home for two years plus her Care has been excellent. The staff have been amazing and the Care has been over and above and when we chose this Home we we didn't know what it was going to be like and it's been a lovely surprise because it's been amazing. The food is good. The care is
good and so glad we bought Mum here and can I please book my place for when I'm old enough or when I'm ready thank you.

Mum has been in Borovere care home for 4 years and 8 months and I can honestly say that during that time, all of the staff are lovely and treat and support Mum very well. She often comments to me that she is happy in the care home and everyone is so nice to her so I shouldn't worry about her. There
are staff who are responsible for providing a program of activities for the residents, which they do with enthusiasm. Mum is encouraged to join in with the activities, or when she prefers, she can stay in her room. There is no pressure either way. The grounds and building are maintained very well. During the time that Mum has been there, there has been a program of improvements which include replacing the carpet in the main lounge to installing fencing around the grass area to make it secure for the residents, as well as many other improvements. Mum has had two operations while being a resident in the home and both times the care home have done all they can to care for her on her return.
Reply from Karen Manager, Shepperdson at BorovereThank you so much for the lovely comments, its always nice to hear good things especially when someone has been with us for a while. I shall pass your kind words on to the staff as I know they will appreciate the feedback.

My Mum has just completed a 3 week respite stay at Borovere following a hospital admission. At her initial assessment in the hospital and throughout her stay she received excellent care with a professional, friendly, personalised and empathetic approach. The willingness of the staff to be flexible
when managing her preferences and needs in order to make her feel welcome and "at home" was second to none. She has coeliac disease and her gluten-free diet was readily accommodated The activities programme was varied and well-delivered.
The atmosphere in the care home is lovely- really homely and happy.
Communication with management and care staff was easy and all queries received a prompt and efficient response.
We have already booked a future respite stay and I would have no hesitation in recommending Borovere to others needing either respite or a permanent placement.

Mum really enjoyed her two years and eight months at Borovere.
She settled well and found it a gracious, friendly and very pleasant place to live.
She loved the happy atmosphere in the lounge with the cheerful activities coordinators, spending most of her time there.
The manager and carers were
very kind, professional and friendly and the senior carers looked after her medical needs so well.
The support staff too were always so nice to Mum, who benefitted so much from the pleasant daily pattern of the days with homely coffee, tea and bedtime drinks between good meals in the pleasant dining room.
Her many family visitors were always welcomed by the staff who were very helpful in arranging visits for those travelling from far and near.
When she was mobile, she was taken out to community events which she enjoyed very much.
The family were so kindly supported throughout her time and we are very thankful that we chose Borovere!
Reply from Karen Shepperdson, Home Manager at BorovereThank you so much for your kind words, Mum was a very much loved lady and a pleasure to care for whilst at Borovere and as a family, you were all so supportive of Mum and also of any changes that were required to keep Mum comfortable. Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.758)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.758) out of 10 for Borovere is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 21 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.783 for Borovere is calculated as follows: ( (207 Excellents x 5) + (30 Goods x 4) + (12 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 249 Ratings = 4.783
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.975 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Borovere is based on 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.975
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 34 registered maximum number of service users is 6.8, which has been reached with 19 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
