During lock-down and in the months since the staff at Borovere have been exceptional in every way. The high standard of care for residents, the love and constant empathy shown by all the staff, shine out. It's hard to find words to fully express my deepest thanks for the way in which contact has been maintained between me and my dad throughout these challenging times - using skype to keep us in touch. The staff have been amazing in so many ways - always so helpful and reassuring. We feel very confident in Borovere for the professional and superb way in which they care for the residents and also the staff and the residents' family members, during these very challenging "covid" times.

Dad is happy and very well cared for. His room is spacious and very nice. All the staff are happy to do everything to make his stay happy and comfortable. With activities every day to join in and mix with other residents. The home provides the amount of care we just couldn't give him.

The manager is a wonderful person who leads the team in a great way, nothing is too much trouble always ready to listen to residents, staff and visitors.
The home is always clean, tidy and full of laughter, a very happy environment.
Food is always fresh, varied and well presented.

Overall Experience

My mother came to Borovere distressed, confused and confined to her chair, having lost her husband and carer, then having tried home care and two other residential homes, without success. In the six weeks that she has been at Borovere, however, we have seen a gradual, yet huge improvement in her mood and mobility. She is also eating well, having her hair done and for an 81-year-old, with her medical condition, she is now remarkably bright, compos mentis and newly sociable. The family is absolutely delighted and continually impressed with all that Borovere do for her and can't thank the staff enough. The kindness, patience, quality of care and close attention to comfort and detail that Borovere offer her, far exceeds that of the previous 2 residential homes in which she has stayed and so we are delighted to have found Borovere and for her to now become a permanent resident. I should also add that the home cooked food is just fantastic!

Overall Experience

My elderly mother was increasingly frail but always lively and intelligent. She was well cared for and died of pneumonia on 9th October. The care she received during her last few weeks was exceptional. I have nothing but praise for the management and the teams of carers. Sometimes the home seemed to be short of carers and used agency staff. These were efficient but impersonal. Many staff are European and are excellent - recruiting them will be more difficult in the future due to the present unhappy political situation. The home might do well to recruit a team of volunteers just to talk to patients. Food was adequate - seasonal vegetables and fruit rarely appeared. Laundry service could be improved.

My Mother was a resident of Borovere Residential Home in Alton for six and a half years before she died there this October. She had excellent care from the staff, who she often praised. She became very fond of some of them and felt as much 'at home' as it's possible to do when no longer in one's own home. They looked after her right to the end of her life, until she died peacefully, with a carer by her side. Family members had visited the day before and were greeted with sympathy and kindness.

For most of her life there, Mother enjoyed many of the activities that were provided each day.

Members of the family were known and welcomed when visiting Mother. I will miss going to see both her and the staff.

A very happy experience both from a professional point of view from my own happy time and also seeing the sensitive care taken both from a new comers point of view and my own personal view as a long time resident. My climax was my recent birthday to which all residents were invited by me. It was the happiest birthday of my life. Enjoying myself with what I now regard as my family including of course our care management and staff lovely well qualified people.

My mother resided in Borovere, Alton for 15 months, and was very well looked after. She regularly said "they do look after me well and are very kind". She was always warm and clean, well fed and entertained with a variety of games and quizzes.
There was a range of outside people bringing further entertainment by the way of animals from a local farm, goats, piglets, ducks, donkeys etc. A garden centre brought in seeds and compost for planting and re-potting plants. Those residing that could were taken out to visit local attractions or the seaside towns.

All in all, a fine place for my 96-year-old mother to end her days - thank you.

My mother has been a resident for 18 months and has excellent care. The staff always treat her with respect and kindness. We can visit at any time and are always welcomed. I have taken my young grandson on a number of occasions and all the residents enjoy seeing us. We even are welcome to join in with the activities. It feels like we are part of a family and I have absolutely no worries about the care my Mum receives, even from the cleaners and handyman. Everything is done in the best interests of the residents with love. Some of the building is a bit tired but we looked at a number of homes before choosing Borovere and we are so pleased that we chose it and are confident that we had made the right decision. I am sad that we will no longer be part of this 'family' and will go back to say hello for their open day and if I am passing. A big thank you to everyone at Borovere for all the care they have given my Mum. I know that no one else could have done a better job.

My mother of 93 had lived at Borovere for 7 years and was very happy. She had a lovely room with all her personal photos and belongings. She really felt this was her home. During the last few months she had to be cared for in bed but was still given the dignity and respect as before. Her end of life care was exemplary and the support that my sisters and I received from all the staff was excellent. I was always made welcome by members of staff and enjoyed my visits very much.
