Bucklers Lodge

from Tom C (Son of Resident) published on 13 March 2026

Overall Experience 1.0 out of 5
It's a very difficult to have to reach out to residential care to provide a home to your mum, we finally decided on Buckler's Lodge. Mum was a dementia patient for about a year. The care was adequate, the people personable, my brother and I decided to work with the staff even when we discovered the
bed still soiled on more than a few afternoon visits, medicine missed and personal items missing from her drawers. This does happen in care homes but as one of the most expensive I would expect something better. If you do decide on Bucklers Lodge don't be surprised by 10% annual fee increase due to 'cost of living'. We gave our notice and moved out, I incorrectly thought we would be paying the original fees in the month or so it took to move Mum. This was due to appalling comms. Greensleeves did not budge and insisted on getting their dementia resident to pay the full new invoice, no compromise whatsoever. I consider the attitude uncaring and greedy in the extreme. Good hot chocolate though.
Reply from Anthony Lane, Regional Manager at Bucklers LodgeThank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are very sorry that your experience did not meet the standards we aim to provide and appreciate you bringing this to our attention.
Since your Mum lived here last year, the home has welcomed a highly experienced new General Manager who has led many positive improvements, and the service has stabilised significantly. The local authority has also recognised the progress and positive changes now in place. The fee increase referenced took place during a period of significant sector-wide cost pressures, including the Real Living Wage, increases in employers' National Insurance and utility costs we faced last year. As your Mum remained in the home after the annual increase took effect, the revised fee still applied to her. With costs now more stable, this year's fee increase at Buckler's Lodge is just 2%, which we believe is among the lowest locally. If you would like to discuss your experience further, please contact us directly.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Mum became a resident at Rose Cottage after being in hospital for over a month after a fall. She could no longer live independently, so we looked for a care home close by us. We were pointed in the direction of Rose Cottage, what a place! Staff were amazing, nothing to much trouble for them, friendly
smiling faces. Mum was on a dementia unit, looked after by some wonderful staff. Cannot knock this place, everyone was brilliant. Sadly Mum passed away but she had been cared for by some wonderful people who are passionate about their job. Thank you so much, we will be eternally grateful for all your help and support during a very tough time.
Many thanks.
Reply from Jennifer Dade, Registered Manager at Rose CottageIt was a privilege to care for your mum. Your lovely comments about our team mean a great deal as they are truly dedicated to providing compassionate care to our residents. Providing comfort and reassurances not only to our residents but also their loved ones is something our team care deeply about, and we are proud we were able to offer support at such a challenging time. Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Mum has been in Borovere care home for 4 years and 8 months and I can honestly say that during that time, all of the staff are lovely and treat and support Mum very well. She often comments to me that she is happy in the care home and everyone is so nice to her so I shouldn't worry about her. There
are staff who are responsible for providing a program of activities for the residents, which they do with enthusiasm. Mum is encouraged to join in with the activities, or when she prefers, she can stay in her room. There is no pressure either way. The grounds and building are maintained very well. During the time that Mum has been there, there has been a program of improvements which include replacing the carpet in the main lounge to installing fencing around the grass area to make it secure for the residents, as well as many other improvements. Mum has had two operations while being a resident in the home and both times the care home have done all they can to care for her on her return.
Reply from Karen Manager, Shepperdson at BorovereThank you so much for the lovely comments, its always nice to hear good things especially when someone has been with us for a while. I shall pass your kind words on to the staff as I know they will appreciate the feedback.

I want to thank the staff at Mount Ephraim House for the effort, and thoughtfulness, that went into providing Christmas Lunch for those residents who were having family members joining them in the home. Each family was given a separate round table in the Orangery on the ground floor. It made for a special
and intimate lunch. The service was very good as was the food. All in all a very pleasant experience.
Reply from Gary Nash, Home manager at Mount Ephraim HouseThank you for sharing this it sounds like the day was truly meaningful for you and your family. Im so glad the staff at Mount Ephraim House created an environment where you could enjoy an intimate Christmas lunch together. Having your own table in the Orangery must have made it feel personal and special, and its lovely to hear that both the service and the food added to the experience. Im really pleased it was such a positive and memorable day for you.

Since my parents have been in the care home, a few years ago now, they have been very well looked after. The carers are so kind and understanding. The activities put on for the residents are amazing, and the meals are excellent. All the staff are very approachable, but one of the managers wasn't quite
so much when she was at the home. I was so pleased that my parents moved into the care home we chose for trhem and it is the best decision we made for them.

Henley House

Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
Our Mum is really well cared for at HH and is genuinely happy and settled there. The care staff are kind, patient, and attentive, and they treat all residents with dignity and real compassion. The activities staff also deserve special praise for the effort they put into engaging residents and creating
a positive, stimulating environment, which has made a noticeable difference to Mum's mood and quality of life.
Management has, at times, felt remote and we would have appreciated more proactive, clear and appropriate communication.
Overall, the quality of care that Mum receives at HH is excellent and we are so pleased we made the decision to move her here. With improved communication from management, the experience for us as a family would be even stronger.

Broadlands

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My mother has lived at Broadlands for 8 1/2 years. Her health has steadily deteriorated during that time, as could be expected for a 92 year old. However, the care here has been consistently excellent, not only for her physical well-being, but also mental and emotional health. All staff show compassion
and one has even used her Sundays off to collect Mum and take her to church. He family are kept well informed of the quality of her daily life and of any problems. The home has a lovely caring atmosphere and is brilliantly managed.
Reply from Anne Maas, Home Manager at BroadlandsThank you so much for your lovely comments. It is our pleasure to look after your Mum.

Bucklers Lodge

Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
Greensleeves have made good progress in addressing the management issues at Bucklers Lodge over the past few months.
The communication has greatly improved, the staff morale certainly seems better and the home has been proactively recruiting over the last few months and they have gradually been able
to increase the amount of permanent staff and reduce the amount of agency staff.
Overall I am pleased with the care my mother is receiving, the staff are all lovely, the building and facilities are very impressive.
They still have a little bit more to go to get the home back to a top level and back to me giving it a 5 Star review again,
I am glad to say that we are certainly now heading back in a positive direction again (imo).
So well done to Clint and the other management team for their hard work and effort and, and well done to all of the hard working staff that make Bucklers Lodge the warm,
Reply from Juliet Gallop, General Manager at Bucklers LodgeThank you for your positive feedback and we are delighted to hear that we are moving in the right direction and we appreciate your support.

Mum is safe + appears content. This alone means a lot to us. She is dressed well and always clean. Staff always are happy and busy with activities for residents. She eats well and regularly. Drinks can sometimes be an issue as she needs prompting to drink. She loves, company but doesn't always want
to mix and needs encouragement. Staff are excellent.

Arden House is a very caring and welcoming care home. My mum is very happy there and that is incredibly reassuring. From the moment you enter it's welcoming and helpful. For me there are small things that add to mum's happiness, one is because I live in London i talk to mum most days on the phone and
that has been accommodated with friendliness and secondly a big thank you for labelling the new clothes i bring from time to time.
Arden House is spotlessly clean and provides a range of activities for the residents to enjoy. But above all the staff are caring, friendly and helpful. I'm very pleased with our choice.
Reply from Aimee Martin, Home Manager at Arden HouseThank you Jo for your kind comments. I will pass these onto the team in our next meeting. As always, if you need anything, just let us know.

Pelsall Hall

Mum attended for a respite stay for 2 weeks. This was her 2nd respite stay and I hope we can have one with a view to a permanent stay at Pelsall Hall. Each time, staff have been very supportive of both Mum and myself. They are friendly and always helpful. Staff encourage independence as much as possible
and encouraged Mum to join in activities being provided; whether Mum decided to join in was a different matter. Rooms were clean and comfortable. The ability to have another chair in rooms for visitors to use may be welcome and a reminder on how to switch off the sensor alarms in rooms as I kept on setting the alarms off. We aim to arrange another respite stay soon. Thank you.
