De Lucy provided nanny with the highest standards of care and concern and made her time at the home as comfortable as possible. Nothing was too much to ask from the staff and they all treated her like one of the family. We were also made to feel very welcome to visit whenever we pleased. The peace and
dignity she received was perfect.

Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
My mother has resided at Broadlands for over 2 years. During this time both she & I have been reasonably happy with her care & treatment at the home. The one issue that I have is the increase in residential care fees, whilst I realise that costs increase for all of us, I feel that over double the national
inflation rate for both last year 24/25 & this 25/26 is excessive.

Glebelands

from Louise W (Daughter of Resident) published on 31 October 2025
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My mother was at Glebelands for 4 years, during this time she received excellent care. All the staff from nursing to catering always called my mother by her name and treated her with dignity and respect, if they passed her room or saw her sat alone they would always stop and chat which she loved. There
was some sort of activity on each day, so lots to get involved in, if she wished along with trips out.
She would have her hair and nails done weekly which she looked forward to so even as she became less mobile at 94 there were still weekly treats!
My husband and I live in Cornwall so came up monthly and it was only due to the care that Glebelands gave her that we were able to do, she considered them family as did we.
When it came to the end of her life, she chose to be there rather than hospital and they were marvellous with us - I would definitely recommend Glebelands to anyone who is considering a care or nursing home.

The staff at Glebelands Care Home were exceptional, exceeding our expectations. Despite my father's brief ten-week stay due to his declining health, they provided him with the utmost respect, dignity, and care during a deeply sad and challenging period. I was consistently informed and updated on his
health condition.
I wholeheartedly recommend their services to anyone seeking exceptional care.

I don't know what has happened because the communication has become so poor, but this once very good care home is in a very poorly managed situation, I would strongly recommend anybody to be extremely carefully at looking at a Greensleeves Owned Care Home at the moment because the way they are mismanaging
Bucklers Lodge at the moment is VERY concerning!

Please check the recent care commission review

Bucklers Lodge

Mum was in Bucklers Lodge for just under a year, initially she was on the second floor which was more residential (mum has dementia) but it was felt it would be more detrimental for her to be on the first floor ( Dementia floor). On the Greensleeves website it states they take mild to moderate dementia
residents but dementia does not stop at moderate it progresses, mums dementia did progress so she was moved to the first floor and this is where her care deteriorated. I would really like to put everything down about the care or lack of it but it probably wouldn't be printed on this website but the Care Quality Commission and Social Services have all the details. Bucklers Lodge evicted mum without any notice because her of Dementia, they said they couldn't meet her needs so sent her to hospital where she spent nearly three weeks and it's not the first time they have done this to a resident as we have found out. Mum is now safe and in a care home that understands dementia.

Broadacres Care Home

Broadacres was recommended to us when we realised mum was going to need full time residential care after a number of hospital stays. I have to say that the staff have been nothing short of amazing since we first engaged with them. They have been so kind and provided the very best of care, easing the
transition from independent living to care home with understanding and compassion. While still early days I think Mum will be happy at Broadacres, and as a family we can rest easier knowing that she's in safe hands in a beautiful location that's more akin to a country house hotel. Finally I also have to give a mention to the extra effort the catering team have gone to in accommodating Mum's food preferences. The food served is excellent and one of the reasons the transition is going so well.

Sharnbrook House

My father has recently moved to Sharnbrook House from another care home, and sadly I also have experience of yet another care home in the area since my mother was cared for with dementia before she died. Whilst it is early days, I asked to post a review since I am so pleased with how my dad is doing
since moving. He has received excellent medical and nursing attention through the interventions of the Sharnbrook House senior team, who have carried out dedicated care to improve his general health and multiple ailments. With significant improvement in his health, he is slowly putting on some weight due to a better diet and great atmosphere in the dining room, and is generally cleaner and well-groomed. He is in the early stages of dementia, making him irascible to say the least at times, but I have witnessed the staff being gentle, kind, and caring with him at all times, and usually with an injection of humour!

Tickford Abbey

I am very impressed with Tickford Abbey in many ways. I have experienced care homes in the past, but Tickford Abbey is more than a care home. I've never seen so many activities, all very well organised and so varied. Dad is always busy doing something, where as before he was bored and lonely. It has
brought him back to life in so many ways. The staff interaction is also appreciated as dad really enjoys this. He has become sociable again. It is also a relief to see him eating well again. The meals are so good, I often joke with him that he's in a 5* hotel. A huge thanks to the staff of Tickford Abbey as it is the people who make a care home and you are all appreciated. Not only do you take care of dad well, but your support for the family also helps on this difficult journey for everyone. Thank you!

My mum has, within 2 weeks of being here settled in really well. The staff have been so attentive and kind and kept her busy.
They have thought about who she may get on with and sat her near them at meal times. They have made sure she has been kept busy doing quizzes, knit and natter, has been out
in the mini bus for a coffee and much more.
We can visit any time and have very quickly been made to feel part of the family.
We had a very useful meeting with the manager and visiting doctor after a week or 2, that helped iron out small details to help my mum settle better and put our mind at rest how she is when we are not there.
She has got her smile back and we can relax as she is in safe, caring hands.

Rose Cottage

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My mum went to Rose Cottage after being discharged from hospital on a palliative care plan. The care at the home was so good that mum lived there for just over 2 years. Throughout this time mum was looked after with great care, even though at times she could be very tricky and quite a forceful character.
The staff always treated her with compassion and dignity, always engaging with both her and myself. I can't thank all the staff enough for the care they gave my mum, especially towards the end when she became very poorly. During this sad period, the couple of days I spent with my mum were made more bearable by the staff allowing me to be with her at all times, nothing was too much trouble for them. I cherish the 2 extra years I had with my mum due to the wonderful care all staff at Rose Cottage gave her, I will especially remember sitting by the pond with mum having a cup of team and cake.
