Since early 2024 I have been a regular visitor. Gill was a reluctant resident, but settled quickly and loves to help the others whenever possible. Facility improvements caused much disruption, but the care staff coped very well. The Chefs produce lovely food and memorable celebration cakes!! Activities and entertainment is outstanding. Andy and Amanda are a superb team, as the Summer Fete and recent seaside outing proved. So much planning and effort goes into every event inside Borovere or on visits elsewhere.

I went to Rose Cottage for 2 weeks respite after surgery for a new hip. Nothing but praise for my stay. Excellent caring staff. Clean pleasant room. Happy with food provided. I put on weight!! I did not take part in activities, apart from lovely church service, prefer to reading my room. However there was much going on, if I cared to join in.

Having had boarding school experience, I know what living in a community is like. Tho I come to stay at the home regularly on respite & I feel the areas I was concerned about have improved. Lovely to see the original staff here & that they are still as attentive & kind as they were. My wife has been in Henley House for 5 weeks. She settled in very quickly, the carers are wonderful and cope well with her mood changes. The home is always cheery, busy and friendly. The carers are happy to assist and direct even if they are busy, they are very loving and kind. The home is maintained well, it is a real blessing for us family and resident to have such spectacular and restful gardens and views, it gives Mum such peace. Most of the time the home is well housekept, occassionally when its been very busy a short of staff there is a small delay (but the home is always a pleasure to visit, as I do frequently in the week).
The food is always presented attractively and nutritious.

My mother has been at Torkington House for few years now with Alzheimer's, which she sadly developed relatively early. We did our best to care for her at home for as long as possible, but we eventually had to take the decision to find residential care. This was an extremely difficult decision to take... From the beginning of this process until today, Torkington House and the amazing staff have been incredibly helpful with their caring, professional and dignified treatment of my mother and the other residents. Before her admission she had the most terrible anxiety and agitation... She is now really happy and relaxed, all thanks to the staff here. It is a lovely place with a really happy and caring environment, I really enjoy visiting now. I really can't thank all of the staff there enough and highly recommend for anyone having a similar experience.

Mum has been a resident of Torkington House for over 7 months. It was very difficult for our family when Mum had to go into care. We were very concerned that She would not settle. But the care and kindness shown by the management and staff has been fantastic. She is happy at Torkington House and the main reason for that is the quality and the kindness of the staff. The management has been very helpful and keep us informed of every aspect of Mum's care. The activities are imaginative and very well run and Mum enjoys them immensely. Mum has had some medical issues since moving to Torkington House, and these have been very well handled by the medical team at the home. We are extremely grateful for this. It means a lot to us as a family. On every visit family and friends have commented on the friendliness of the staff.
In short, we are very happy that we chose Torkington House for Mum and would like to thank everyone who works there and cares for her.

My 84 year old mother, who has Alzheimer's, stayed at Torkington House for one week for respite care. My family and I were very happy with the care she received during her stay.
The staff were kind, gentle and caring, and we felt that my mother was treated with dignity and compassion. The food was good, and the care home was always clean, tidy and well maintained.
Unfortunately, my mother's short stay coincided with her birthday. The team went out of their way to make it special. Although she was only staying for one week, they baked her a lovely cake, sang Happy Birthday to her, and gave her a card and a gift. It was a thoughtful gesture that meant a great deal to us as a family.
We found Torkington to be a well run care home, and Esperanza, the manager, was great. Her communication with us was clear, helpful and reassuring which gave us peace of mind while our mother was in their care. If we require respite care again, we would have no hesitation in choosing Torkington House.

My Mum has been a resident at Lavender Fields for almost two years now. In that time she has been well cared for. The management and staff are all friendly and helpful and always prompt with any communication.
My Dad has now moved in to be with Mum, they have next door rooms so, with the help of the carers, they get to spend time together. They enjoy taking part in the activities, which there is plenty of, the activities team work hard as do the rest of the staff. It is a relief to know that both Mum and Dad are being well cared for.

The staff were caring, thoughtful, considerate & treated my father with dignity. The facilities are very clean & tidy. Activities are geared up appropriately & everyone is included in some capacity. The whole set up is for the resident to be as comfortable as possible and to make it their home

Always very welcoming when visiting.

Overall Experience
Mum became a resident in May 2026 as she was no longer able to live independently. She has a lovely room with a baloney. The staff are kind and patient with her Management team keep me updated of changes in relation to her care or things happening in the home
I have found staff welcoming when I or any members of the family visit

Always great to visit Lavender Fields to see Auntie Betty. The staff are caring and attentive.
The lovely cafe near the entrance is an ideal spot to sit with Betty and catch up with her. We all enjoyed the coffee and biscuits.
