Mum became a resident at Rose Cottage after being in hospital for over a month after a fall. She could no longer live independently, so we looked for a care home close by us. We were pointed in the direction of Rose Cottage, what a place! Staff were amazing, nothing to much trouble for them, friendly
smiling faces. Mum was on a dementia unit, looked after by some wonderful staff. Cannot knock this place, everyone was brilliant. Sadly Mum passed away but she had been cared for by some wonderful people who are passionate about their job. Thank you so much, we will be eternally grateful for all your help and support during a very tough time.
Many thanks.

Mum is safe + appears content. This alone means a lot to us. She is dressed well and always clean. Staff always are happy and busy with activities for residents. She eats well and regularly. Drinks can sometimes be an issue as she needs prompting to drink. She loves, company but doesn't always want
to mix and needs encouragement. Staff are excellent.
Reply from Jennifer Dade, Registered Manager at Rose CottageThank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're pleased to hear you have had very positive experiences in the Home. We are always working hard to create a warm and supportive environment where residents feel safe and in receipt of high quality care. We are very proud of the caring and inclusive service our team deliver and will be sure to share your comments.

Mum has been a resident since early 2023, her care has been exceptional. From day one. Mum has full capacity and knows exactly who she wants, and when! This has caused a few little hiccups with one or two staff, however most of the staff/carers are very accommodating and love "gossiping" with mum. A
lot of the carers have worked there a long while, and now their children also work there - its a lovely little family where they treat everyone as individuals. If you want a homely, family care home, this is the place for you.
Reply from Jennifer Dade, Registered Manager at Rose CottageThank you so much for your review. We pride ourselves on creating a warm family-like environment where residents and families feel safe, valued and truly at home. Our home is built on a strong sense of warmth and belonging with a family ethos at the heart of everything we do. Resident choice and comfort matter and we recognise choice as part of wellbeing and take this into account when planning care from our fully trained care team. We are invested in our residents thoughts, views and observations and I'm pleased to know this connection with your mum evidences compassionate, genuine care while maintaining boundaries and respecting confidentiality.

I have both parents residing in RC one in each unit. The care delivered is excellent, carers have good rapport with all they encounter and standards are consistently good with all staff members. Communication is excellent and frequent across all mediums. I have every confidence that my parents receive
high quality holistic care and myself and my family are always welcomed. I feel we work in partnership to achieve the best outcomes for my parents.
Reply from Jennifer Dade, Registered Manager at Rose CottageThank you for sharing your experiences of Rose Cottage especially as both your Mum and Dad live here. Person centred holistic care is at the heart of what we do. The consultation with yourself and knowing that you feel welcomed and a valued partner in your parents care especially as someone who actively cared for them prior to their moving to Rose Cottage is an intrinsic part of the care we offer at Rose Cottage and I am so pleased you highlighted this in your review.

I get the very strong sense that the whole approach and ethos of Rose Cottage of both its management and its carers is one that has the care, safety and the well being of the residents as the very top priority.
The devoted and friendly caring staff really to do care about the residents and look after
them with all the dignity and respect I would want to for my father.
It is good to know that my father is very well looked after, is safe and comfortable. Most important is what my father thinks and he says he is very happy and content at Rose Cottage. We both could not ask for more.
The only gripe is the very limited parking for resident visitors. The car park seems to be always full and rarely is there a space on site. That said, the village hall which is right next door has parking spaces.
Reply from Jennifer Dade, Registered Manager at Rose CottageThank you so much for your review. We do have a rather small car park which is quite busy but we are working on a plan to try to increase the space and we are grateful to the village for the space in the village hall. Our residents happiness, care and safety are paramount and your kind words will be shared with the team as it means a lot to them to know your Dad is happy here.

My mother in law transferred to Rose Cottage as she was becoming unhappy at the residential home she was at. We couldn't ask for better care for her as we live a few hours away.
We are kept up to date with her needs and progress, receive timely emails and calls when needed and the staff are always
accommodating, friendly and caring.
My mother in law is so much happier now, enjoying the activities and the other residents company.

My mum went to Rose Cottage after being discharged from hospital on a palliative care plan. The care at the home was so good that mum lived there for just over 2 years. Throughout this time mum was looked after with great care, even though at times she could be very tricky and quite a forceful character.
The staff always treated her with compassion and dignity, always engaging with both her and myself. I can't thank all the staff enough for the care they gave my mum, especially towards the end when she became very poorly. During this sad period, the couple of days I spent with my mum were made more bearable by the staff allowing me to be with her at all times, nothing was too much trouble for them. I cherish the 2 extra years I had with my mum due to the wonderful care all staff at Rose Cottage gave her, I will especially remember sitting by the pond with mum having a cup of team and cake.
Reply from Jennifer Dade, Registered Manager at Rose CottageThank you so much for sharing your experience of Rose Cottage. We are so proud of the team and know they cared very deeply for Mum and for you. Thank you for all your support of the Home and the cakes and cheese scones!

My father lived at the Orchards for nearly 3 years. He was very well looked after, both medically and socially. On a couple of occasions when he was acutely ill staff dealt with it promptly and our family was keep well informed.
All the staff were lovely and there was a good staffing level. The activities
team were great and included him as often as possible even when he was in a wheelchair. The rooms were spacious and clean, and the food was good, with regular snacks and drinks as well as the meals. Visitors were always welcome and often offered tea and cakes.
During his final illness he was cared for with compassion and the family were allowed to stay with him day and night. They provided a care basket with necessities such as toothbrush, toothpaste and toiletries for us when we stayed unexpectedly.
Staff really took the trouble to get to know him and individualise his care.
As a retired GP I have extensive experience of care homes in East Anglia and this must be one of the best
Reply from Elaine Cole, General Home Manager at The OrchardsThank you so much for sharing such a heartfelt and thoughtful reflection on your father's time at The Orchards. We are truly honoured to have been entrusted with his care over the past three years, and it means a great deal to know that both he and your family felt supported and respected.Your kind words about the attentiveness of our staff, and the efforts of our activities team are deeply appreciated. We are especially touched by your recognition of the compassion shown during his final days and the small gestures-like the care basket-that helped make a difficult time more bearable. It's always our aim to provide not just professional care, but a sense of comfort, dignity, and personal connection.

My aunts health had deteriorated at the end of last year, so I started researching care homes for her. My aunt was very sure she wanted to stay in her own home so she was added to the waiting list and invited to attend community sessions. She has now been attending these for a few months and although
not ready to move in, admits she enjoys attending and is happy to go again. The staff are very kind and go the extra mile to make sure everyone is happy and have all they need. It has been really good for my aunt to spend time with people of her generation and have time out enjoying the different activities.
Reply from Jennifer Dade, Registered Manager at Rose CottageThank you so much for your lovely review of Rose Cottage. I could not think of a safer, happier, more settled place for my 98-year old mother to live, than The Orchards in Ely.
Staff are genuinely decent, honest, attentive and kind. Injuries are reported and treated promptly and professionally. Concerns are shared straight away, solutions presented in an
intelligent and balanced way.
The food is outstanding. Standards of pastorale care, cleanliness and entertainment are equally high.
I cannot think of a single fault ... My mother has always felt at home, always felt valued, always felt important and always felt loved.
