I want to thank the staff at Mount Ephraim House for the effort, and thoughtfulness, that went into providing Christmas Lunch for those residents who were having family members joining them in the home. Each family was given a separate round table in the Orangery on the ground floor. It made for a special
and intimate lunch. The service was very good as was the food. All in all a very pleasant experience.
Reply from Gary Nash, Home manager at Mount Ephraim HouseThank you for sharing this it sounds like the day was truly meaningful for you and your family. Im so glad the staff at Mount Ephraim House created an environment where you could enjoy an intimate Christmas lunch together. Having your own table in the Orangery must have made it feel personal and special, and its lovely to hear that both the service and the food added to the experience. Im really pleased it was such a positive and memorable day for you.

As stated by cqc totally inadequate in every way
Short staffed poor record keeping bad management
Care plan not drawn up or adhered to
Poor hygiene with little personal care
Food supplied directly by family
Senior carer heard telling resident she couldnt help herself never mind resident
Staff
blarantly fail to see their misgivings
This home should be closed down and management sacked (IN MY OPINION)
Even months after inspection, they are still rared inadequate
Despite having a new building
£2,500 per week for the low standards they produce is disgraceful
Reply from Nicky Cahill, Regional Manager at Lavender FieldsThank you for taking the time to share your further thoughts. We are sorry that your wife's experience continues to cause upset and recognise how important this is to you. When your concerns were first raised, we carried out a detailed review of care records, staffing information and discussions with the team. This did not identify evidence of neglect, unsafe practice or unmet assessed needs. However, we understand this has not changed how you feel.
For families reading this, residents' safety, dignity and wellbeing are our highest priorities. Care plans are assessed and regularly reviewed, concerns are taken seriously and investigated promptly, and we maintain close oversight of quality and staffing. We are open about our CQC rating and continue to work with regulators on a structured improvement plan. We welcome open dialogue with residents and families. Our focus remains on providing safe, compassionate and person-centred care to everyone at Lavender Fields.

My friend loves to look out of her window and watch the birds. Recently she mentioned that the bird feeders were no longer replenished. When I passed this on to a staff member, it was dealt with promptly and efficiently. The bird feeders are now nearer to her room and always full. Thankyou.

I was leaving the home after visiting my mother, when I was told she had just fallen. I rushed back to find 2 staff on the ground floor had very quickly taken control of the situation. One comforted her, the other fetched and constructed a fantastic piece of equipment to raise her off the floor. I can't
fault their care and expertise during this and similar incidents.
While we have been displeased by the lack of a manager and poor leadership over several years, (and hope this will soon be rectified) we cannot fault the care mum has been shown over 6 years.
Reply from Lavender Fields team, team at Lavender FieldsDear AP, thanks for taking the time to share your views. Our staff are the beating heart of our home and it's great to see them recognised. It is also great to see such a clear acknowledgement that, despite the recent challenges, compassionate and responsive care continues to be your experience, and that of so many of our families. We very much appreciate your patience while we return to steady ground.

On a visit to my mother, the care staff were incredibly kind and sensitive to her needs. We especially like the lack of turnover in regular carers - it is obviously a good working environment. Our mum is beautifully cared for - even when she is being frankly 'difficult'. Thank you to all.
Reply from Lavender Fields, team at Lavender FieldsDear HH - many thanks for your kind words. It is our privilege to look after your mother and we're pleased you're happy with how that's going. We will make sure we pass your feedback to the team!

Dispite all the mangerial changes and challenges the staff caring for our loved ones treat everyone with the utmost care and compassion including the families sometimes in a difficult situation
This was recently put to the test after my mother had a nasty fall.
The care she and I received in
the days after the fall was exptional. Thank you for looking after us both
Reply from Munashe Makuwaza, Divisional Support Manager at Lavender FieldsThank you for taking the time to share your insights with us. The entire team are working hard to ensure we deliver high quality, compassionate care during a time of change, and we sincerely appreciate your feedback. I am delighted that both you and your mother felt cared for following your mother's fall, we recognise that such instances can be a real time of worry for family members, so I'm pleased you also felt supported. We appreciate your trust in us, and your recognition of the care team which I will be sure to pass on to them.

Both my parents have been in Lavender Fields care home for 10 months. We have found the care staff to be very friendly, caring, and attentive. As a family, we visit 2 or 3 times a week and my parents, and their rooms, always appear well looked after. Staff have liaised effectively with us about any
concerns that have come up. The meals are of a good standard - we have eaten with Mum and Dad on a few occasions. My Mum, who is cognitively able, speaks highly of the staff. They looked after us especially well when they helped us celebrate my Dad's 90th birthday.
On the downside, Lavender Fields have struggled with recruiting senior managers, and also use quite a few agency staff, which isn't ideal. But day to day, our family's experience of Lavender Fields over the last 10 months has been a good one.
Reply from Tracy Nelson, Divisional Director at Lavender FieldsMany thanks for your kind review, which I will be sure to pass on to the staff team. I'm delighted to hear everything went to plan with your father's birthday celebrations. We are working hard at filling our vacant positions and are confident this will be achieved in the coming months. As ever, please do speak with us should there be anything further we can do to support.

My contact with Lavender Fields has been for the past 3 years. In the past 2 years there has been several temp managers. I have seen several members of staff arrive and depart during this period. 3 months ago a new manager was appointed. It now appears that a period of stability has commenced which
is reassuring especially with the closure of a home nearby. I would like to thank all of the staff at the home who always have been so kind and considerate for my relative despite the changes and challenges it is really appreciated. I just hope that the senior management recognise and support their fantastic staff.

My mother has been in Lavender Fields for nearly five years and we have not had any complaints about her care. The staff on her floor have all been caring to her and friendly with us. There seems to have been a lot of problems in setting a permanent head of the home but hopefully the latest will be
good. There have also been some problems with paying the bills but they seem to be satisfactory now.
Reply from Rachel Dadwa-as, General Home Manager at Lavender FieldsThank you so much for your kind and thoughtful review. I'm the new Home Manager here at Lavender Fields, and I truly appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. It's lovely to hear that your mother has been well cared for over the past five years and that our team has been both caring towards her and welcoming to your family. I'm am disappointed at the level of care given to my relative. There is no consistency in care a large turn over of staff. Pore and non existent management, no explanations as to high turnover of management. My relative has been in this care come for 2 1/2 years and has spent over £300k on care. We
were told when she entered the home it was a home for life however this is NOT the case. After a stay in hospital due to negligence of staff she has been refused return. Management still a week later have provided no explanation or will even engage with us. All her things are in her room. They are only interested in your money. On the surface it's lovely but they really don't care. Residents are just a cash cow. Avoid at all costs. It's a shame only a bad review will actually get a phone call from management.
Reply from Devon Baker, Divisional Support Manager at Lavender FieldsDear L A,Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Your loved one was an important part of our community and we appreciate how hard this has been.We understand and share your frustration with the hospital discharge. While we aimed to act quickly, the process was disjointed. We're truly sorry for the added stress and have taken steps to prevent this happening again. We were saddened that, after reassessment, we could no longer safely welcome your relative back. As discussed with you, she now requires nursing care we're not registered to provide. Our 'Home for Life' is a financial assurance and applies when a resident's funding runs out. Please accept our apologies if this was ever unclear. We hear your concerns about staffing. We are pleased we now have a strong General Manager in post and continue to strengthen our team.Though this wasn't the ending any of us wanted, we hope that the earlier moments of care remain meaningful. Please let us know if you'd like to talk further.

Our experience with staff has found them caring supportive and friendly. Their tasks carried out efficiently but making sure dignity of resident and comfort are at maximum. They listen and take on board any information we have given to help them converse or understand mum's speech. Any questions we
have had have been answered.

My mother had been at Lavender Fields for just over a year. The staff made her very comfortable and as she came to the end of her life they showed enormous affection and care. I cannot express sufficiently how impressed I was. My mother was aged 100 at the time of her passing.

Mum moved into Mount Ephraim House in April 2024, initially for some respite care. At that point, she was living on her own and struggling to cope without full support around her for daily living. The stay with the team at Mount Ephraim was life-changing, and after having such a lovely break for 3 weeks,
asked if she could stay! Luckily they still had a room available and Mum has settled incredibly well. It is lovely to see how happy she now is. With their care and love, she has improved dramatically in terms of her physical and mental ability with all the wonderful fitness groups, clubs and entertainment that the teams organise on a daily basis. Most importantly, Mum has built a wonderful group of friends amongst both residents and staff. Everyone is incredibly friendly, warm, understanding and supportive and all work so hard to ensure the best home-from-home experience for the residents. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Mount Ephraim House.
Reply from Karen Cooper, Registered Manager at Mount Ephraim HouseThank you for your kind words. It is important to us that residents are able to experience as much as possible home from home. Everybody is part of the Mount Ephraim family.

My partner came to the care home in August these comments are my impressions of views to now a wonderful building overlooking the common, with lovely inside rooms, especially the dining room and lounge and staircase in the old building. Meals to a high standard. Activities every day, I feel as if regular
visitors have been very welcome by the manager and her staff.
Good carers, some with interesting backgrounds. I am now 91, quite fit and am still driving. Should I need a care home, this one would be my choice.
Reply from Karen Cooper, Registered Manager at Mount Ephraim HouseThank you for your kind words. We enjoy welcoming everyone to the home and hope that everyone feels part of the Mount Ephraim family.

Dad moved into Mount Ephraim House in July 2023 in the second week of them opening after the huge refurb. All the staff have been absolutely amazing with not only Dad but also us as a whole family, especially Mum who has missed Dad terribly. It has taken Dad a long time to settle because of his Alzheimers
but now refers to Mount Ephraim House as 'home' and it gives us great comfort to witness the amount of hugs and adoration he receives.
We are now having to come to terms that after a major life-changing medical situation with Mum, she can no longer live independently and our hope is that she too will be able to move to Mount Ephraim House - we have absolutely no hesitation in making this our first and only choice at this stage.
Reply from Karen Cooper, Registered Manager at Mount Ephraim HouseThank you so much for your kind words. We are hoping that we will be able to accommodate as well so that they can still be together.

The manager agreed to take my mother-in-law for emergency respite at very short notice was the best decision we made. My mother-in-law has been very well looked after. The team are caring and attentive to all of my mother-in-law's needs. The family have said that Mum has never looked so well. We are
extremely thankful to the team for the care and support they provide for Mum and the family.

The home arranged for my elderly mother to visit her elder sister in another care home; arranging transport and day care. They hadn't been able to see each other for several years and without the care and support of Lavender Fields this would not have been possible.
My mum has settled into Lavender
Fields very easily and the care provided is exceptional. The staff are always available to assist residents and to help relatives with queries and understanding of the care system.
It is a beautiful care home, with a range of activities and caring staff.
I would highly recommend it.
Reply from Femi Shoyombo, General Manager at Lavender FieldsDear Paul, thank you so much for your wonderful comment. We recently had to say goodbye to our lovely mum, shortly before her 103rd birthday, after five years and eight months living in Lavender Fields. Having had a stroke at 97 and the subsequent sale of her beloved house, Mum was really not happy to find herself at Lavender Fields. However, nothing was
too much in order to make Mum feel at home, in her own lovely room, with her own possessions. She gradually adjusted, enjoying the companionship, meals, activities, hairdresser, manicure, FaceTime on her tablet and her visitors. We found the occasional management/relatives meetings to be very useful. The new management is a positive improvement. There are too many wonderful carers to mention individually, save to say that Mum's care, particularly in the latter months was exceptional. Mum was very closely monitored in those last few weeks, and treated with loving care, dignity, compassion and understanding. We are so grateful and we thank you all. We made the right choice with Lavender Fields.
Reply from Femi Shoyombo, General Manager at Lavender FieldsWe thank you so much for the kind compliments. We also would like to say a big thank you for letting us be part of your mother's life. We feel privileged.
