My mother has been at this wonderful care home for nearly a year. I'm extremely pleased with the way she is so well looked after in such a dignified caring safe and comfortable environment. The great staff are very professional and welcoming keeping me fully informed
This is very important as I have
my own health issues which restrict me from being able to visit as often as I would like.
Thank you all so much

Simply put the care afforded to mum at Speirs House has been nothing short of outstanding in the year and a half that she has been here. I live abroad and so my worry always is/was is mum going to be sufficiently cared for. The answer is emphatically yes. Lead by the manager and her very able team.
I am over the moon with the care. Keep going. Excellent staff.

My mum returned from hospital much less well, we prioritised getting her back to Speirs "her home" for final stages of her life with us and the staff who know her so well. Mum's care has been excellent, showing real empathy, care, respect and dignity.

My mum has been living at Speirs House for the last eighteen months. We moved her from another home which looked like a posh hotel but she was left in her room mostly with no interaction. The staff at Speirs House are like family mum is really well cared for, there are activities twice daily and
there are lovely volunteers coming into the home. The home is a good size only about 30 rooms where there is lots of interaction with the other residents and there is always lots of carers, nurses and other staff always around. The food is great and the residents get involved to have a say in what they want and the kitchen staff are wonderful. The residents have regular meetings also there are regular relatives meetings. The manager Feruna always has time to talk and is very happy and bubbly. I highly praise the staff and I am extremely happy to have found this gem of a home. Thank you all the staff

My husband has been at Speirs House for nearly three years. I can't imagine anywhere better for him. He is safe and well cared for. He had a very bad stroke 23 years ago and I can't look after him anymore. He is so well looked after that our times together are lovely.

My sister has been at Speirs House for three and a half years. It is both a nursing and care home. The staff are all regular, important for continuity of care for all residents. My sister needs nursing care after a serious stroke. She is non verbal, the staff know her needs, she's extremely well cared
for. Although she cannot join in, she is included in many of the activities, important for her well being. Speirs House is spacious, plenty of areas to enjoy whether individually, or socially. The ensuite bedrooms all have a view, it is a happy and comfortable place, it is home to my sister.

My mother was in need of a hospital admission in the last months. When mum became unwell we were immediately notified, the nursing staff listened to our wishes and reviewed the situation as necessary. I felt our family wishes were prioritised and we worked as a team to enable mum to have the best care
for her individual needs. On return from hospital mum's care has been excellent. I can feel completely at ease when I leave the home knowing she will be cared for beautifully.

Torkington House is a wonderful place! My mum is receiving the best care which is always given consistently and professionally. She is looked after with kindness and dignity and is very happy and settled. Her needs are met in every aspect. Torkington House have very high standards and a team of truly
dedicated staff who are managed by Margaret. She has an amazing team and ensures that the residents' individual needs are met on a daily basis. Margaret is always available if I need advice, help or even a chat, this is something that is very much appreciated. I am always made to feel welcome when I come to visit. I have great peace of mind knowing that mum is so well looked after. Thank you so much, Margaret, to you and your team!

Torkington House is an exceptional care home, and I am extremely happy with the care provided. Margaret, the manager, is approachable, efficient, and runs the home to a very high standard, treating staff with genuine respect, which is clearly returned through their dedication and professionalism.
The
staff are kind, skilled, and work seamlessly as a team, always putting residents first. Mum is wonderfully cared for and never left alone. Her medical needs are fully met, she is well presented and benefits from excellent, freshly cooked nutritional meals. The availability of Catholic Mass is much appreciated.
Communication with families is excellent, and there are many engaging activities and events. Christmas can be hard for families but at Torkington it was made really special, with a lovely atmosphere that welcomed all visiting relatives.
Mum has been here nearly three years, and I have no regrets-Torkington House feels like a caring family while remaining thoroughly professional.

My mum has been a resident at this home now for a few months, she lived with me for a while after my Dad passed, but had been recommended this home by a friend and after a visit I immediately knew this was the right choice for her. The manager is lovely and all the staff are very caring and attentive.
There are no agency staff which I think is important as they get used to the happy faces and the caring people who work there. She has settled in really well with the other residents and because she has memory issues she has been able to find her way around quite well as it's not too big for her. When you walk in there is a lovely cosy, warm Ambience and her room always looks clean and tidy. I couldn't ask for anything more knowing that my mum is content, happy, safe and has put on weight. I would definitely recommend this home without any hesitation and I am so pleased there was a room available when I visited.

Mum has been a resident here for the past 17 months. It took her a while to settle as she had lived independently for many years.
We are so happy we chose this beautiful caring home for her. The carers are like family to us now and have been there many years which is always a good sign. Mum
has really settled in now and has made many friends. The food is wonderful.. I have tried it myself many times when the home provide special family events. Mum loves the food too and she has put on weight which is good as living on her own she didn't really cook much.
In mums words she says she is treated like a queen there. I think she is the hairdressers best customer. It's very reassuring to us that mum is being so well looked after and is so happy there.

My Mother has been residing at QE House since August 2025 and is still a happy resident.
The staff bend over backwards to accommodate my Mother as she can be quite a fusspot! Nothing seems to be too much trouble and they take great care into making sure the residents are comfortable/ health checked
, regularly.
They have parties for residents birthdays so all can enjoy-often with entertainment laid on (and beautiful cakes!)
I wouid thoroughly recommend this wonderful care home .

My mum became resident at Queen Elizabeth House from summer 2025, and still happily resides there. From the day she was admitted, we as a very close family have had 100% faith in how well she was cared for. With a long nursing background, and being very fussy about her care, I wanted to know she was
in the best place. Within a very short time my fears were allayed, and I could relax knowing she was in the care of wonderful and caring staff at all times. They are all so very kind and extremely professional. I'm there as lot, they never make me feel I'm in the way. They listen if I have concerns, and act on my suggestions as soon as I have voiced them. I watch them with other residents, they are kind and so caring with all of them, even the more difficult residents, they are just so lovely.
I wouldn't want my mum to be anywhere else now, we have great faith all is well as long as she is there.

Torkington house provides outstanding care for its residents with considerate and very helpful staff who cater to the needs of the residents at an individual level. They understand the requirements of each resident and do their best to make sure every resident is looked after in the best possible manner.
My

She has always been so supportive and all her team of care staff are exemplary. They arrange activities and outings for residents and are always welcoming when I visit. Some years ago when I was thinking that mum might need a care home in the future, I did a search of local ones online. Torkington House stood out for me then, because of the lovely heartfelt reviews. When the time came, it was them that I contacted first.
That was 3 years ago, and I have absolutely
no regrets. Mum, after a bit of settling in time, has thrived. She is relaxed and happy and quickly put on weight (which she needed). The staff are lovely, kind and respectful to the residents. There is a very low turnover of staff, which means they all know her well. They quickly spot if she is not her usual self and seek medical advice where necessary. She's 99 now, and I think that is down to the wonderful care she receives at Torkington House.
There's a lovely homely feel, and staff are always welcoming. Marie who manages the activities does a brilliant job. Mum has thoroughly enjoyed activities and trips out. I can relax knowing that she is happy, safe and very well looked after.
Reply from Esperanza Guidaven, Deputy Manager at Torkington HouseThank you so much for taking the time to share such a thoughtful and heartfelt review. To know that families feel reassured and at ease means a lot to us. We will pass on your lovely comments to everyone, especially Marie, who will be delighted to know how much your mum has enjoyed the activities and trips.
