Glebelands Care Home in Wokingham is one of the most impressive homes for older people in the county of Berkshire. The care home provides highest quality residential care and nursing care in a beautiful setting.

A stunning Grade II listed building set within its own beautiful and expansive grounds, the home not only delivers exceptional residential and nursing care to its residents, it also provides an exceptional quality of life and sense of well-being.

The location of the home exceeds all expectations, with rolling neatly trimmed meadows surrounded by wildlife filled woodlands, the residents often wake up to bird song and views of roaming deer.

Despite this rural feel and sense of living deep within the countryside, it is just a short walk from the heart of the charming market town of Wokingham; ensuring many of the residents are frequent visitors to the tea shops and cafes which they enjoy with their loved ones or fellow residents and staff from the home.

Glebelands Care Home in Wokingham does not deliver care and support to those living with dementia instead focusing on providing exceptional residential and nursing care. The Glebelands is well respected by local healthcare professionals, enjoying an excellent reputation and has a highly coveted “Good” rating from the Care Quality Commission (February 2022); the home also enjoys a high degree of satisfaction from its residents and their loved ones.

The lifestyle of residents is a key focus, which is why they only offer a full-time activity programme but also a range of well–being activities such as hand and foot massages and aromatherapy. These have proved just as popular over the years with residents enjoying trips out, quizzes, wildlife interactions or film nights.

If you think that you or a loved one may soon need care pop in for a chat and find out what the Greensleeves difference really is.

I should like to thank you all, every single member of staff, for the loving care and compassion shown to my husband during his very short two week stay at Glebelands. All the staff were amazing and went above and beyond to make his last few prescious days as comfortable as possible. And thank you for
the kindness shown to me and my two sons after he passed away on Saturday. I would not hesitate to recommend Glebelands Care/Nursing Home in Wokingham with all my heart.

From my first visit, I sensed that Glebelands would be the perfect home for Mum. And so it was. All staff - managers, nurses, carers, activities team, housekeepers, caterers, estate keepers and administrators - work together to provide care that is kind, gentle, individualised, knowledgeable and thorough.
The surroundings are beautiful. Mum loved her room. The atmosphere is calm, yet incorporates a varied program of activities. Outings, games, crafts, cookery, music and puzzles are popular and all the many festival days in the year are celebrated. Staff treated Mum as an individual and respected her decisions. They listened to us, initiated communication when needed, and often went the 'extra mile'. Mum felt safe, comfortable, happy and at home. Unprompted, she said that she felt well looked after. And, when her life was ending, not only was Mum nursed with love, care and dignity, but we were too. Thank you, Glebelands, for helping us to make Mum's final year the best it could be.

My mother was at Glebelands for 4 years, during this time she received excellent care. All the staff from nursing to catering always called my mother by her name and treated her with dignity and respect, if they passed her room or saw her sat alone they would always stop and chat which she loved. There
was some sort of activity on each day, so lots to get involved in, if she wished along with trips out.
She would have her hair and nails done weekly which she looked forward to so even as she became less mobile at 94 there were still weekly treats!
My husband and I live in Cornwall so came up monthly and it was only due to the care that Glebelands gave her that we were able to do, she considered them family as did we.
When it came to the end of her life, she chose to be there rather than hospital and they were marvellous with us - I would definitely recommend Glebelands to anyone who is considering a care or nursing home.

The staff at Glebelands Care Home were exceptional, exceeding our expectations. Despite my father's brief ten-week stay due to his declining health, they provided him with the utmost respect, dignity, and care during a deeply sad and challenging period. I was consistently informed and updated on his
health condition.
I wholeheartedly recommend their services to anyone seeking exceptional care.

I can not commend enough the quality of care and dedication of the nurses and staff at this beautiful care home. My mother was only there for 6 weeks but they did everything possible to make her life comfortable. She was kept immaculately clean and all her clothes and bedding. She was professionally
cared for. We were so happy that she was transferred there. Thank you.

My mother-in-law has been a resident at Glebelands for the last three years. Throughout this period the level of care she has received has been outstanding. It was her decision to enter residential care, stating that she just wanted any time left to be comfortable and be well looked after. The management,
nursing staff, carers and all other areas of the home provided all of this and more.

The staff at Glebelands looked after our mother until her death, from December 2023 to May 2024. She arrived with significant medical issues, but the nursing and care team took it all in their stride and treated her with dignity, compassion, always being kind and polite, and adapted her care as needed.
As
a family, we were kept up-to-date with any changes in her condition and always made to feel welcome. We were very impressed with the way the home was run, so top marks to all the staff there including the wonderful manager.
I would highly recommend Glebelands to others.

My mother lived at Glebelands from July 2020, until her death in September 2024. Mum couldn't have been happier, the staff at Glebelands looked after her beautifully and kept her safe and well, which wouldn't have been possible at home. The rooms are lovely, the food is great and the activities are
fantastic. Mum died at the home and all of the staff supported Mum, my sister and me for Mum to die with as much dignity as possible.

We were very impressed with the care Glebelands provided to our mother. She had multiple, serious medical issues which made caring for her quite challenging. But the staff really rose to the challenge and worked very hard to stabilise her health as far as possible.
We were completely satisfied that
she was being very well looked after, which was most reassuring.
The staff from top to bottom were always friendly, helpful and approachable. The home is very spacious and the grounds are lovely.
We really can't thank Glebelands enough for the way they looked after our mother.

Finding the right nursing home for someone you love dearly can be difficult, and I am so grateful to have found Glebelands, for it is the right home for my mum.
From the moment Mum arrived five years ago, she has received excellent care. Mum is immobile and has dementia, she is often anxious and agitated.
Mum is cared for with kindness, understanding, patience and respect (no matter what her mood!). Indeed, it is evident that Mum is not just well cared for but genuinely cared about by everyone at Glebelands - management, nursing, care and support staff alike - they are wonderful. The home is always welcoming, and I am kept well-informed about how Mum is.
Thank you, Glebelands.

I have witnessed first hand the highest standard of nursing care that my mum has and continues to receive at Glebelands. There is a welcoming and family atmosphere there. The staff have established close relationships with my mum and there is a happy and caring bond between them.
The food is prepared
beautifully and is much enjoyed. The staff are happy to take feedback to cater for individual needs. My mum is well cared for and this gives my family peace of mind. It would be wonderful to see the staff receive some reward and recognition for their hard work.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.702)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.702) out of 10 for Glebelands is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 17 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 16 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.802 for Glebelands is calculated as follows: ( (175 Excellents x 5) + (18 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 202 Ratings = 4.802
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Glebelands is based on 16 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 44 registered maximum number of service users is 8.8, which has been reached with 16 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
