Review from J H (Daughter of Resident) published on 12 June 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

Pelsall Hall is a fantastic place. Residents are treated with dignity and respect by all staff who work together to make residents feel safe and cared for. Their sense of humour in meeting the individual needs - both physical and emotional - of the residents and their families is a wonderful aspect and reflects the tone of the leadership to include everyone - all staff at all levels in the work they do. The range of activities for 'fun' times meant my mom had a positive and enjoyable time there and the support offered to her and her family at the end of her life was outstanding and genuine.

My sister was calm when I visited. We were looking at old photographs and listening to music. When I said I had to go she started panicking and shaking. Didn't know where she was. I mentioned it to the carers and without hesitation one of them went over to her, sat with her, holding her hand and calmed her down.

My Sister-in-Law has been a resident at Pelsall Hall since October 2021 having lived at home during COVID and not able to cope due to her dementia. Our visits have usually been unannounced and we have had a warm welcome from the Staff each time. Her room is spacious and all facilities are clean and well maintained. Rosemary is always dressed well, her hair looking good and nails manicured. The Staff are very supportive listening to her and responding to her needs day or night. We are immediately contacted if they have any concerns. She enjoys joining in with the many activities put on by the Home and she always looks forward to her meals, cups of tea and reading the paper. The Home is spacious and has a lovely garden area where residents and family can meet during the summer months. We feel that she is safe and well looked after here. Thankyou to all the Staff.

Mum attended for a respite stay for 2 weeks. This was her 2nd respite stay and I hope we can have one with a view to a permanent stay at Pelsall Hall. Each time, staff have been very supportive of both Mum and myself. They are friendly and always helpful. Staff encourage independence as much as possible and encouraged Mum to join in activities being provided; whether Mum decided to join in was a different matter. Rooms were clean and comfortable. The ability to have another chair in rooms for visitors to use may be welcome and a reminder on how to switch off the sensor alarms in rooms as I kept on setting the alarms off. We aim to arrange another respite stay soon. Thank you.

I have lived at Pelsall Hall for 3 years since coming here with my husband when he was terminally ill, and I was unable to care for him myself. The staff here showed great care and respect for him until his life ended. I stayed here and have found companionship from both staff and patients. The food is plentiful, drinks are available at all times, and we do various activities. Staff dress up as appropriate on special days. I am quite content with the thought that I will be here until my life ends.

Very cheerful, pleasant, caring staff.
Clean, pleasant, safe environment with good facilities and lovely garden
Flexible to meet the needs of residents.
The staff member who usually organised activities was absent for the whole of November and then left - but may have now been replaced.

It took a long time for the toilet in dad's room to be repaired. Overall facilities are good though.

I couldn't be more pleased with the wonderful care Pelsall Hall provided to my mum. She has dementia but is looked after well, and she thoroughly enjoys all the well-designed stimulating activities that the staff provide. She has a nice room with views of the trees and garden. My grateful thanks to the manager and all of the great staff who care for Mum with such dedication. I live in Australia, so I only see Mum for a few weeks each year, so I would like to add an extra special thank you to the brilliant social media team. I see pictures of Mum most days, always looking happy and engaged with what is going on. Thank you all for everything you do!

Now that Mom has settled into the home, it is clear that she is very happy and secure there. She enjoys the activities, which include crafting, singing, children visiting and games. (Previously in her own home, she spent all day in front of the TV). The carers all know her by name and ensure she is well-fed and watered and has everything she requires. My grateful thanks go to the staff of Pelsall Hall.

My mum recently stayed for her first ever visit to a care home for almost three weeks respite care at Pelsall Hall and I couldn't be more pleased with the service we received from the home manager and all of the staff. They looked after Mum so well and I could sense a positive change each time I called as she settled into the home and the routine. It was a huge weight off my shoulders to know she had round-the-clock care and I could switch off and enjoy my holiday. The home is spotlessly clean and set in beautiful gardens. Mum has nothing but good things to say about all of the staff and in particular the food! I really wanted this to be a positive experience for Mum and I truly do think that it was and I thank everyone very much for that. I have no hesitation recommending the home for anyone in a similar situation and I hope Mum will be made welcome again in the near future.

Overall Experience

We have been delighted with the care and attention that our mother receives at Pelsall Hall. The dementia knowledge and experience of the staff have helped to settle our mum into the home. Moving a parent is never an easy decision to make, and very disorientating for someone with dementia, but Pelsall Hall has made that decision so much more bearable and knows how to interact with Mum. Mum is now in safe hands and looked after with care and dignity. She joins in activities, which we are able to access through social media, and the activities are so varied and entertaining: animals, singers, nursery children, painting, and games, there are always things going on. She always talks fondly of where she is and the staff that support her. We cannot thank the staff enough, from the carers to the caterers to the activity coordinators, to the cleaners, and to the management. We feel so lucky to have Mum living at Pelsall Hall!

Our mum was in Pelsall Hall from August 2021 until she passed away on 31st August this year. I honestly can’t speak highly enough of all of the care, love and support that Mum, and us as a family, received. All of the staff right across the board, management, carers, catering and all of the other members of the extended team always dedicated time and honestly were off the scale with care and attention. We couldn’t have wished for a more lovely environment for Mum to live in.

My parents moved into Pelsall Hall together at the beginning of October.
They and the family, have found all the staff whatever their role to be outstanding, patient, helpful and understanding.
Mom and Dad each have dementia but they are at different stages with quite different needs. The management and staff have managed from day one to give them all the support and care that they each need. All their medical requirements are taken care of and they are now eating well having meals that are appetising, well-balanced and nutritious.

It is a great relief to us all to see that our parents are being kept safe and well in such a warm and friendly environment.

My mother-in-law recently moved to Pelsall Hall. This was a difficult move for all of us after caring for her in her own home but we feel that she is safe and well cared for at Pelsall Hall. The staff have been supportive and are kind and caring towards her. There always seem to be activities taking place. My mother-in-law loves the children's visits. The surroundings are pleasant and attractive, everything is very clean.

I have found the carers to be friendly, understanding and very knowledgeable with my mother,
it wasn't an easy transition for the family to move our mother to a care home, but having visited several care homes we felt Pelsall Hall sounded right, felt homely and safe. Mother's room has everything she needs and to be able to put special touches to her room makes it feel like home from home. The gardens are kept beautiful and the carers have taken my mother out for walks around the garden and into the village which she enjoys. I feel more reassured that she is in a safe environment being looked after. The meals are to a high standard with a variety to choose from and care is taken that they are nutritious.
There is a wide range of activities my mother has enjoyed including red nose day and Easter activities where she participated in parties and craft making.

I am informed of my mother's progress regularly and can contact them at any time if I have a question with understanding from Staff.

All staff and I do mean all, from management to handyman right across the board are so kind and patient with mom. They have been proactive to her changing needs. Liaising with medical staff and supporting us to get mom the right help and treatment. Knowing mom is in their hands has enabled me to get a better night's sleep. They also take time to check I am ok too and offer reassurance, advice or even a hug when needed despite being busy. I can't thank them enough.

Mum has been a resident in Pelsall Hall for five years and has been well care for throughout this time, with her care being tailored to her gradual deterioration due to dementia. As a visitor to Pelsall Hall myself, I have been made to feel at home, made most welcome and informed throughout. I am moving away shortly but this is made easier for me knowing that mum will continue to receive exemplary care as always.

Hello my name is Wendy Clifton and I am Home Manager at Pelsall Hall.

I aim to provide whole-person care by addressing the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of our residents. As a home we provide the highest quality of care in a secure, happy and homely environment. The care, comfort and well – being of the residents is of paramount importance to me and my team.

Mel DunnJob Title:Deputy ManagerJoined: 2012

I have been in care for over 35 years. I joined Pelsall Hall as a Care Supervisor and have never looked back. Now, as Deputy Manager, I support Wendy to ensure the home is a great place for residents and staff. What I love the most about my job is that I am not part of a single team but support everyone to ensure everything is in place to help residents thrive. The best part of my role is helping residents have a meaningful and fulfilling life for as long as they're with us, including at the very end. Seeing residents happy and families feeling truly supported throughout makes everything worthwhile.

I have worked in care for over 20 years and I find putting a smile on our resident’s faces and giving the best care possible very rewarding. It’s important for residents to feel included and assisted to make their own choices. When I am not working my hobbies include baking & decorating cakes, seeing my family and looking after my pets.

I have worked for Greensleeves Care for 9 years and really enjoy my role. It’s a varied and sometimes demanding job dealing with staffing, purchasing and residents. It gives me the opportunity to chat residents and get to know their families a little. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and my shih tzu named Lilly who tries to keep me fit.

I joined in the summer of 2025, straight after sixth form. I really wanted to get into care as I wanted to make a real difference to families, helping them know their loved ones are safe. We do all sorts of activities, from colouring to karaoke! There is a real range, and we also enjoy outings. This place has made a lasting impression on me, and I am looking forward to continuing to support our residents.

I love my role as a Senior. I joined the home as a carer in 2021 and became a senior a couple of years later. I studied Level 3 in college and joined the community care team before coming to Pelsall Hall. My absolutely favourite part of the role is supporting our residents - catering to their different needs and personalities. It is like a massive family here - everyone gets along and there is a huge amount of respect. It is just a lovely place to live and work!

I started at Pelsall Hall in 2023 - my first job as a carer. I moved into care after working as a chef and deciding I wanted to get a bit more satisfaction from my working life. The best part of being at Pelsall Hall has to be the interaction with the residents - getting to know them, sharing a chat, a joke or a game. Being a male carer is a bit unusual, but it doesn't bother me at all - we all get along really well.

There's always something new to be done, and whatever needs doing, I get it done!
