Overview

The Review Score of 9.8 (maximum of 10) for De Lucy House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 32 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for De Lucy House in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 11 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

Detailed Breakdown

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.922 for De Lucy House is calculated as follows: ( (354 Excellents x 5) + (28 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 383 Ratings = 4.922

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 4.917 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for De Lucy House is based on 11 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 12 positive Reviews (60 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 11 Reviews ÷ 12 Target = 0.917

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

9.8 De Lucy House has a Review Score of 9.8 (9.839) from 32 Reviews

My mother in law has been a resident of De Lucy House for just under a year. She will tell everyone she sees that it is a lovely place. She says that the staff are very caring and are always popping in to see her. She enjoys the meals and tells everyone she has the best room in the house with the views over the golf course.
From our point of view, we find that the care that she receives is absolutely first class. The facilities are modern and the decor is bright and needful. The residents are able to stroll in the gardens, take part in the many activities organised for them and social events. The communication with the staff is excellent. Although my mother in law is entering into the dementia stage, the staff are very understanding and kind. She has made friends and really enjoys the contact with others on a daily basis.

The saying is "there's no place like home" and I agree but De Lucy House is the next best thing.
I have now been here for 18 months and apart from the initial trauma of leaving my home, I have enjoyed every day. Because it is a new build, we have every facility i.e hair salon, cinema room and library. Our excellent team of activities ladies keep us on our toes with chair exercises, film shows and trips out in the recently acquired minibus, even a day on the Norfolk Broads.
We have 4 units each with 15 residents and each unit has its own dining room. Our carers, who are second to none, serve the meals and although not "silver service" trained, do their best. Meals are cooked on the premises and vary in quantity and quality but on the whole, there are few complaints.
In no way can I fault the 24hours care, although it does take some little while at busy times for carers to answer our bells.
Overall, no complaints, we are safe, warm and well looked after in this family atmosphere.

My Mum has been in De Lucy now for 10 Months. I knew I had to make that very difficult decision although it turned my life upside down knowing that I could no longer care for my Mum at home. But now I can honestly say my Mum is enjoying her life and the company there. She can now make choices and is in control of her life thanks to the marvellous and dedicated caring staff. The staff have always been there for me and have been very supportive in many ways and I am truly grateful to each and every one of you for making my Mum's life a happier one! The door is always open at De Lucy for support, advice and always a warm welcome.
A BIG THANK YOU to you all.

Exceptional. Mum lived here for two years and she did just that - lived! Over time, she lost her entire physical capacity but, her friends at De Lucy looked after her every need with complete dignity, respect and love.
Nothing is too much trouble for those who work here. It is clean, tidy and very well maintained and, in Mum's words 'like a hotel'! She loved the place, she adored the staff and they, in turn, loved her.
The range of activities and the people who arrange them are second to none. It is somewhere everybody is encouraged but, never forced, to join in, relatives included. It is a place to call home and a place where everyone is made to feel part of the family. Recent events put the staff under a lot of pressure but, under the exceptional leadership of the Deputy Manager and Care Manager, the home continued to be the happy home its residents know, standards maintained throughout.
Is it perfect? No, these people are human beings.
Is it an amazing place to live? Yes.

I cannot find fault in De Lucy House at all. They took care of my mother right up to her death on 2.2.2018 when she died in the N&N hospital. All the carers were incredibly kind and attentive to her needs and supported her deterioration with dignity and respect. It is a lovely place, with a wonderful relaxed atmosphere but great attention to detail and totally professional in all respects.

De Lucy House is an exceptional organization, managed and staffed by amazing people who are the fabric of the most dedicated care home I have encountered. My godmother for whom I have actively cared for the last ten years had been in residential homes for the past four years but nothing compares to the passionate care with which she was treated at De Lucy House. The beautiful appointments would be nothing without the team who give their heart and soul to the often demanding job of caring for frail elderly residents. Nothing has been too much from having to overcome the language barrier to the amazing palliative care in the last few days of her life. We should be lucky to be able to avail ourselves of a room at that amazing place in our hour of need. The Eden values are applied in the care of each resident, respecting their individuality and pre-emptying all their needs. The activities are offered to all and make up the beating heart of this great place, always cheerful, upbeat and inclusive.

The care provided by the De Lucy House is consistently kind and compassionate and the energy they put into providing wide a range of activities and fun for the residents is incredible. The home is split into four areas each with its own lounge, dining room and conservatory which makes it a comfortable size for my father who suffers from dementia. The design of the resident's rooms are excellent and the quality of the catering, laundry and housekeeping is a very high standard.

It doesn't matter what time of day I visit I always find the atmosphere is calm with lots of laughter during the activities.

My mam has been a resident for the last six months. I have to say Mam loves it at De Lucy House. As an outdoor person she loves the gardening, the outings to various locations that are active, also Football matches, watching films, a decent hairdresser on site, going shopping. What more can I say, the staff are brilliant always smiley and bubbly. Also if anything is wrong with mam they are on hand as soon as possible. I used to feel guilty leaving my mam, now I don't, that is because she is happy and well looked after. Just like to say thank you De Lucy House for a brilliant job.

We were delighted when De Lucy House accepted my stepfather. It was very new and purpose built and also close to visit. The staff, without exception, from the young carers, cleaner, laundry, kitchen, all accepted and acknowledged him although he had dementia. They brought the best out in everyone. The activity staff worked tirelessly keeping them all stimulated. The food was lovely and well cooked with a good variety.
The manager and her management team were first class right down to the maintenance team. My stepfather was there a short time, unfortunately, but they brought the best out in him and made his last weeks, very pleasant.

My mum was only in the care of De Lucy House for about six weeks and having seen the care first hand I am only sorry that we could not persuade her to have gone into care there earlier (she was fiercely independent!) sadly her cancer had returned and she declined very rapidly but was looked after with much kindness, dignity and respect.

We needed care for my father at short notice due to family illness. De Lucy House were fabulous from our initial contact with them. You can sense the feel of the residents being at the centre from the minute that you walk around. My father had a peaceful weekend there and the staff were very caring and professional. We will be visiting again!

My father has been in De Lucy House for six months. The care he has received from all staff is of the highest quality. My family and I know that Dad is safe, and well looked after which gives us peace of mind. Their support is not just given to my dad but also to each of us with their kindness and time. It is comforting to hear dad singing and chatting when we visit.

This is my first experience of a care home for an elderly relative suffering from dementia. I have been extremely impressed with the level of care and consideration afforded to my mother. The attention to detail for people suffering this illness has obviously been well thought out and executed which is shown throughout the home.

My father, who has Alzheimer's disease, has been resident in De Lucy house for 4 months. The care he has received has been outstanding. Dad had broken his hip and was very frail when admitted after seven weeks in hospital. The staff provided him with nourishing meals and snacks and encouraged him to eat. They also put in place measures to reduce the impact of his falls.
The home is purpose built, so facilities are excellent, but it is the care provided by all staff that is so good. All staff, not just frontline staff, are trained in dementia care. Activities are available every morning and afternoon. Dad likes cinema afternoon when a film chosen by residents is screened and an "usherette" brings ice creams and snacks in the interval.
I would have no hesitation in recommending De Lucy house.

My grandmother moved to De Lucy House at the age of 97 in late December 2015. The staff there were very supportive and kind. We observed them providing excellent care and excellent coordination of all details related to my grandmother's daily condition and needs. We live in America and our contact was mostly by email (often daily) and facetime. (internet video) and phone - plus physical visits when we travelled there. The facility was extremely well managed and we were very impressed with the team including The Family Liason Manager, Manager and Deputy Manager. They are incredible.

I cannot fault it care that mum received at De Lucy House. Right from my initial contact with the family liaison officer, the warm, empathetic and caring approach of the home was obvious. The building itself is excellent, well designed, clean and comfortable, but it is the quality of the staff that sets it apart from others. Every member of staff that mum and I had contact with the office cleaners, laundry, Kitchen staff and of course the care team, were exceptionally kind, friendly and well trained. Thank you for all you do.

My mother has been a resident for just over 6 months and I am extremely happy with the care she is receiving. I visited many homes when she was unwell and began to worry that I would not find one that she and I would be happy with. That is until someone suggested I visit De Lucy House. Although it is some distance from my home, the additional travelling is worth it to know that my mother is being provided with high-quality care. All the staff I have met and spent time with treat every resident with dignity and respect and I have observed compassionate care in action.
The staff are person centred in their approach and they made real efforts to get to know my mother and not the 'dementia'. I have also been made welcome whenever I visit and I can observe a team of staff who work well together and support each other during the shifts to make sure all the resident's needs are met.

Very very impressed with all aspects of De Lucy House. In particular all the staff (who are of course by far the most important element). Best way to express it is that if I were asked to make a suggestion that would improve the experience, I could not think of a single thing.

From the moment I was showed around and explained the ethos of Greensleeves I knew it was the right place for mum to move to on discharge from hospital. The building is new so naturally the surroundings bedrooms and lounges are well appointed and comfortable. That is important but it is the care which is given at De Lucy House which sets it apart from other care homes. I could tell that the staff are carefully selected and trained but above that the staff are naturally caring very kind and gentle. The staff ratio is good so that the staff can spend time with each resident, so that everyone feels special and knows someone is available for them. Residents are well stimulated by regular activities if appropriate. I can't speak highly enough of De Lucy House. I rate it as excellent.

My husband and I moved into De Lucy House in October 2015. My husband suffered from Parkinson's disease and dementia.

DeLucy is an wonderful facility, newly constructed and custom built. The building is conveniently located with a beautiful rear area. The staff who make the home what it is are exceptional with many privately expressing to my wife and I how happy they are to be working here. Several hare shared they have been in the care business for a number of years and DeLucy is the best place and environment they nave been employed at. As a former paramedic I was able to care for my mother along with my wife for as long as possible but it became obvious that the standard of care she required with advancing age exceeded that which we were able to give. Having professional management and care staff, obviously happy in their employment and extremely accommodating has allowed us to make a wonderful transition from home. Living nearby we are able to visit each day while the tremendous burden of caring for an elderly parent is shouldered by others in a trusted setting.

De Lucy House is a new build care home designed to a very high standard. It has good sized individual rooms and a range of nicely furnished communal spaces that give the place a pleasant, airy atmosphere. I am particularly impressed with the ethos of the home which is based on the Eden Alternative and strives to care for psychological and emotional needs as well as the physical and medical aspects of care. Residents are encouraged to make themselves truly at home, and the approach by staff is that the home is principally thought of as the home of each individual who lives there, rather than a place of work. I look forward to visiting and feel very welcome. Staff are very approachable and support to residents to help them live a meaningful and happy life. The support my father received when he moved there enabled him to settle in very quickly. I am confident he is being well cared for and is safe, which is hugely important to me and my sisters, as we all live some distance away.

This home is very new, but our dealings right from the start with the Family Liaison Manager gave us confidence in placing our father at De Lucy.

He has been with the home for 6 months now but despite previously being at times a difficult person to satisfy, he has settled down very well, and seems very comfortable with the staff, who almost always seem to have smiles on their faces.

Because of distance, the family are not always able to make regular visits, but we are confident that he is getting the Dementia care that he needs, and we can rest assured that he is being well looked after.

Befitting a new organisation there does seem to have been a few staff changes, however that has now settled down.

The management have regular meetings with families and the manager who seems genuinely interested in "caring" operates an open door policy.

De Lucy care staff were kind and very considerate to the needs my father-in-law during his two respite stays with them. As a nature lover he was given the perfect room which overlooked the river Waveney.

This is a lovely place in which to live in, with excellent and very caring staff. I have no hesitation in recommending it. I have been doing so to my friends and relatives already. Luckily we heard about it through a friend who also pointed out how easy a journey it was from London by train. I wish we had known about it earlier, as my Mother would have probably had fewer hospital stays during the preceding months while she was living in sheltered housing. The extra care provided here would have made her life much easier and safer. She would have enjoyed having more company. The care is outstandingly good, with well trained and kindly staff. As far as I could see, it was a home from home and not at all like an institution. I was there with Mum at all hours of the day and night. The residents were treated always with the greatest of respect and courtesy.

Description:

My name is Lucy Nicholas and I am privileged to be the manager of De Lucy House in Diss.

De Lucy House is a brand new home which has been designed to provide the best possible environment that assists the devoted team in putting the residents first in everything they do.

My role is to manage the day to day running of the home and I am dedicated about ensuring that residents receive personalised care at all times. I find it incredibly rewarding to support residents and see them thrive as individuals.

Every member of my team is committed to making a difference and supporting not only the people who live here, but their families and friends too.

My personal philosophy is to always have my door open to listen to anyone who wants to talk. This communication with others enables me to create an environment which is eternally improving to make our residents happy.
