Hi, I’m Catherine Beswick, and I’ve been the manager at Kingston House since 2020. I’ve actually been here since 2004 and have had many different roles over the years.
I started as a Kitchen Assistant, and after a while, I was asked to join the care team. I really enjoyed it and decided this was where I wanted to build my career. From there, I moved into roles like Care Assistant, Relief Senior Carer, Dementia Unit Leader, Care Supervisor, Deputy Manager, and eventually Manager.
My favourite role was definitely being the Dementia Unit Lead. Lavender Lodge, our dementia unit, was a new project for the home, and I loved being part of creating it from the ground up and working with the local healthcare team.
What I really love about Kingston House is how homely and cosy it feels. We have 43 bedrooms, but it still feels intimate, with a real sense of community. We always want residents to feel at home and be involved in decisions. For example, when we redecorated the dining room, we let residents pick the paint colours, and they loved being part of the process!
We also aim for everyone, who wishes to, can continue with the hobbies they loved before moving in. One resident loves swimming, so we arranged weekly trips to the local pool for him.
At Kingston House, everyone is made to feel welcome and valued. This is part of what makes Greensleeves Care so special. As a not-for-profit, everything we do is focused on making sure our residents get the best care possible.
My role at Kingston House is to offer support and advice to families who are looking for care for their loved ones. There is no greater reward for me than helping people on this journey into finding the right home. Away from work I love to spend time with my family and friends.
I have worked in care for over 40 years and at Kingston House for three years. I greatly enjoy my role but particularly knowing I have made a difference to the residents’ lives. I feel privileged that people choose us to care for their loved ones.
I have worked at Kingston House for three years and in care home settings for over 16 years. I love my role and enjoy supporting residents with their individual care needs and how this is so different for each
person. I enjoy forming positive relationships with the residents I care for and ensuring they make the most of every day.
I have worked in catering for 24+ years. I enjoy working at Kingston House, it’s a nice place with a homely atmosphere, the residents are lovely. I find the work rewarding and love the fact that I am making a difference to people’s lives. When I am not at work, I enjoy baking and decorating cakes.
I’ve worked in care for 30+ years in a variety of settings and roles, I’ve been at Kingston House for one year and this is my first role as in activities. I love my job, and enjoy spending time with the residents getting to know them. Learning about their likes and dislikes, supporting and enabling them to do the things they enjoy. I love finding new ideas to engage residents in and improve their quality of life.
I’ve worked in finance for 33+ years. I have been working at Kingston House for 8 years now and really enjoy my job. I enjoy meeting new people and working with the residents and their family. I really love
hearing all the interesting stories our residents have to share about their life history.
