I find Kingston House to be a well run, friendly, clean and comfortable home. The food is excellent, the staff are kindly and there are plenty of activities in which we can participate in. The homes mini-bus goes out most days visiting various, local clubs, fete's, tea dances and garden centres. We
regularly have entertainers visit the home which adds to the quality of life you can experienc3e at Kingstone House.

I have been here nine years and have been looked after very well by staff and management and would hate the thoughts of having to move.
It's a lovely home, I love it here.

I haven't been able to visit as often as I would like. However, when I do come the staff is so kind and helpful to us both! Mum loves the activities and gets to go out so much more. I am very happy that she moved to Kingston House.

From the start, everyone has been most helpful and welcoming. Kingston House is in lovely village surroundings and this is reflected in the way the interior is kept.
My mother is now registered blind and I think that the whole atmosphere of calm and caring is felt by her.
The only one problem is sometimes
maybe there is some 'understaffing' when things like getting her dressed are left a long time, or answering the call button (she has had to learn to wait a little bit!) One other problem is the lack of availability of getting to see the doctor; re mother's ear, very important to blind people.

My mother lived in the dementia unit, Kingston House, for the last three years of her life.
The care was exemplary - nothing is too much trouble for the staff.
My mother was treated with love and care - all aspects of her care were excellent.
My mother enjoyed the activities both within and outside
the home - she enjoyed regular trips out on the minibus to coffee shops, the Memory Lane club locally etc.
Communication with family was always excellent.
I recommend Kingston House without reservation.
It is the best care home ever!

My father, who has dementia, has been a resident in Lavender Lodge for 16 months. During that time he has been well cared for both physically and emotionally. He is treated with dignity and respect. He has been encouraged to participate in a range of activities in the home as well as being taken
out on trips in the minibus most weeks.

I have also found the staff approachable and willing to discuss any questions that I have concerning Dad.

I work at a primary school and have been visiting the residents of Kingston house for 4 years. We were invited to join the residents for the WW2 2014 celebrations and we have been visiting ever since. My dance club attended all the tea dances at Kingston House, the children love entertaining the old
folk. The residents always join in, even if it is only waist up with actions! The residents also come to school to join in with our Harvest, Easter and Christmas celebrations as well as coming to watch our Y6 leavers' production every July. I also visit Kingston House as I have made many friends over there. Whenever I visit the residents, there is always a lovely atmosphere and I am always made welcome by the staff, there is always a cup of tea on hand. I have booked my place for when I am older!

My mother has lived at Kingston House for almost 4 years. Mum is well cared for and treated with dignity and as a precious individual. She is often enjoying a laugh with residents and staff. She is happy, which is of paramount importance for our family. Staff are always pleasant and responsive.

Mum has friends at home and enjoys spending time with other residents. She can take part in a range of activities if she wishes to. She really enjoys her food.

We have recommended this home to others. We looked at several ourselves before choosing Kingston House due to its location, standard of care, staff and generally homely and welcoming atmosphere.

Mum says she is very happy and satisfied with the care given.

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.244)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.244) out of 10 for Kingston House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.4 out of 5 from 12 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.444 for Kingston House is calculated as follows: ( (73 Excellents x 5) + (59 Goods x 4) + (10 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 142 Ratings = 4.444
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Kingston House is based on 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 46 registered maximum number of service users is 9.2, which has been reached with 12 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I’ve worked in care for 30+ years in a variety of settings and roles, I’ve been at Kingston House for one year and this is my first role as in activities. I love my job, and enjoy spending time with the residents getting to know them. Learning about their likes and dislikes, supporting and enabling them to do the things they enjoy. I love finding new ideas to engage residents in and improve their quality of life.
