Reviews

8.9 The Briars has a Review Score of 8.9 (8.901)

The Review Score of 8.9 (maximum of 10) for The Briars is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 4 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for The Briars in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.3 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.625 for The Briars is calculated as follows: ( (32 Excellents x 5) + (14 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 48 Ratings = 4.625

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 4.276 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Briars is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 3.75

    2. Target of 7.6 positive Reviews (38 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 4 Reviews ÷ 7.6 Target = 0.526

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

Since my father has been in The Briars approximately 6 weeks he has settled in very well. He has been assessed for his mental capability by the psychiatrist. We have noticed a marked improvement in his mental awareness since he has been in the home.
The management and staff have been very friendly and supportive to both dad and our family. My father seems to have got a bond with them especially the chef and seems very happy and settled.

The care is excellent, it is a bright, cheerful place, with a lovely garden.
The staff are always so kind and caring.
The home has won awards for outstanding care.
My husband went for two days a week day care for a long time before becoming a permanent resident.

My father moved into The Briars on 1st May 2017 and from the first moment, he was made to feel very welcome. Many members of staff came to his room to say "hello" and introduce themselves, all using dad's first name and showing great kindness and a very genuine caring attitude. Due to his dementia, this was a very difficult and emotional time for dad, myself and our family as a whole.
From the moment of my first contact with The Briars to enquire about the availability of a room, through the assessment process and first visit to the home and carers, managers, cooks etc have shown great compassion and understanding about how hard it is when a relative has to move into a care home which has really helped us to deal with the difficult early days of the transition. Thank you very much.
