Our mum is a resident at Henley House, and after 3½ years we are absolutely certain that this home was the best choice for her.
It's smart, clean and warm and there is always a friendly welcome. The staff are very experienced at looking after residents with dementia, their care is second to none and mum is looked after with patience, humour, kindness and respect.
All the care and support staff at Henley House are outstanding. They take the time to get know the residents and relatives, and can also be very supportive to relatives when needed. The atmosphere is always upbeat, lots of chatter and laughter with residents and families.
As mum's needs have changed, her care plan has been adapted to ensure that her ongoing needs are catered for, seamlessly.
The activities team are great - they get to know the interests and abilities of each resident so they can tailor activities and encourage participation.

I'm sure our Mum is safe, comfortable and content at Henley House.

I am happily living at Henley House. The staff are all very nice and kind to me. I feel safe and well looked after. I have a lovely room which is clean and fresh. I love looking at the horses from my room. The meals are very good, and I enjoy having drinks and biscuits on crackers throughout the day.

My parents have been living together at Henley House for 4 years now. From the moment they moved in, I knew I had made the right decision for them. The staff and management are wonderful. They are kind, caring and respectful. The activities that are provided are amazing. The home is beautifully clean and tidy, and the rooms are stunning. My sister and I visit most days between us, so we can see first hand how Henley House is run - it's like being with family on every visit.

I can't speak highly enough of this care home. My mum has been here for the past 3 months, and the standard of care has been outstanding from day one. The staff are genuinely kind, compassionate, and attentive - not just to my mum, but to all residents and their families.
They made a real effort to help mum settle in, taking the time to understand her needs, routines and preferences. Their knowledge and experience really shine through and they've always been ready with helpful advice and reassurance during what could have been a difficult transition.

Thank you to the whole team, it's clear that you truly care about the wellbeing and dignity of the people you care for.

Our Mum is really well cared for at HH and is genuinely happy and settled there. The care staff are kind, patient, and attentive, and they treat all residents with dignity and real compassion. The activities staff also deserve special praise for the effort they put into engaging residents and creating a positive, stimulating environment, which has made a noticeable difference to Mum's mood and quality of life.
Management has, at times, felt remote and we would have appreciated more proactive, clear and appropriate communication.

Overall, the quality of care that Mum receives at HH is excellent and we are so pleased we made the decision to move her here. With improved communication from management, the experience for us as a family would be even stronger.

Since my parents have been in the care home, a few years ago now, they have been very well looked after. The carers are so kind and understanding. The activities put on for the residents are amazing, and the meals are excellent. All the staff are very approachable, but one of the managers wasn't quite so much when she was at the home. I was so pleased that my parents moved into the care home we chose for trhem and it is the best decision we made for them.

In September 2022 when Social Services instructed us to visit local care homes in order to find a new home for mum, we were so lucky to have discovered Henley House and cannot imagine she could possibly have been looked after by more caring, fabulous people.
Life always seems to be busy for residents, and through the past three years we have been constantly surprised by the wide range of activities they have provided, and we will always treasure the images we have of mum doing everything from baking cakes to handling exotic animals. They even managed to get her out on the river Orwell, an adventure we know was really special for her.

We have been humbled by the care and attention that mum has received, not just during the period when dementia became a serious threat to life, but throughout the whole of her stay. A lovely home, staffed by lovely people, and very easy to recommend.

Reply from Rebecca Bewley, Home Manager at Henley House

Dear Mike, we are humbled by your kind words. Henley is special, it's all due to the residents, team AND relatives and visitors that make it so. I shall pass this onto the team and thank you for your involvement in our Henley 'family'. Please don't be a stranger, we will always remember Mum.

Couldn't have wished for a nicer home than Henley House. When mum moved in, obviously as a family we were worried how mum would adjust, aswell as the family accepting this new normal. Henley House has become mums home aswell as feeling comfortable for the family to visit. Mum has a beautiful room & private ensuite. There's so many activities scheduled, which I like to get involved in too, Activities staff do a fantastic job. You can clearly see, that all the staff love what they do, they are so caring & have a natural nurturing nature. Knowing mum is well cared for, helps to relieve the worry we had.

Thank you for your very kind words, we shall share these with the team. Reviews show those looking for care for their loved ones, what to expect from personal, experience but we also appreciate the support you give Mum, and as it's her home, it should also feel yours and free for you to visit at any time. Thank you again.

I have been meaning to send my sincere thanks & gratitude to all the staff of Henley House for the diligent way my dear mum has been cared & looked after. When she arrived in March of this year mum was a bag of nerves, living on her own for almost 10years of losing Dad,became too much, plus loosing a son,she did remarkably well up to that point. Not wanting to leave her own home, mum just couldn't cope anymore.Mum originally just went in for a six week trial.Mum has blossomed since then, she is no longer lonely, worrying about things.Mum looks so well, she loves the staff & says how wonderful they all are.Mum has a lovely room, with bits & pieces of hers to personalize it.She even has showers now before it would have been a strip wash.Mum participates in most activities, she is enjoying life again, which I her daughter am happy,as I live away, this has given me peace of mind knowing my dear mum,is the person she used to be.So my deepest thanks to you all,you are truly marvellous at what you do.

What an excellent home this is, it has been one of the best choices we have made. My mum has been in the home for nearly a year and the care she has received, the activities provided and the staff's dedication has been brilliant. My mum's quality of life has improved and knowing this and that she is so well looked after has given us such peace of mind, thank you.

The home manager and mini bus driver went over and above to ensure that my relative was able to attend an event which they recognised was very important to her.
I find the senior carer excellent and feel that she really cares about the people she looks after.

I have no hesitation recommending all of the facilities that Henley House has to offer and am confident in the care and commitment that they are giving my relative.

I want to take the time to send this review because I think it is important to let people know the difference staff here make to people's lives. Our lovely Mum went into Henley House in 2023. We spent a long time choosing the right place and I have to say that from the moment we walked in we knew this was right for Mum. Mum has dementia and needs dedicated care, every single one of the staff who care for Mum are absolutely fabulous. She is always clean, happy and well cared for. Any difficult problems are handled professionally and caringly. Management run the facility brilliantly and it is beautifully clean. The reception staff are smiley and welcoming. Any family concerns and feelings are considered and we always feel valued.

I have no hesitation in recommending Henley House to anyone who has a dear relative who needs deeper care, it is not a 'facility' it is a home as in a place for our loved ones to live in comfort and where we can visit and spend time with them.

Dad unfortunately was only a resident here for just over a week on the dementia floor, my brother and I were very impressed with the care he received until he passed away unexpectedly.

We wanted mum to come here initially, for respite care after a lengthy and traumatic stay in hospital where she lost a lot of mobility due to heart failure. We are very happy with the care mum received, especially as the care is complex. Small niggles but we feel confident they get addressed.

Thank you for the lovely review. It has been a pleasure to enable Mum to improve from her stay in hospital and following the loss of her husband. Her specialist dietary needs are complex, but nothing we cannot handle and she has most definitely become one of the Henley House family of residents.
