Brampton Manor has won the Intergenerational Connections Award at the National Activity Awards 2026, held on 23rd January at The Liner Hotel in Liverpool. Organised by the National Activity Providers Association (NAPA), the National Activity Awards celebrate excellence in activity provision across the UK care sector. NAPA is the leading membership organisation championing the vital role of activities and life enrichment in care settings, supporting providers to deliver meaningful experiences that improve quality of life for residents.
The Intergenerational Connections Award specifically recognises activity providers whose commitment to bringing different generations together has made a real difference to people's lives and inspired others across the sector.
More Than Events, A Way of Life
At Brampton Manor, intergenerational connections aren't occasional events. They're woven into the fabric of daily life. Through partnerships with local nurseries, schools, and community organisations, residents connect regularly with children ranging from toddlers to sixth formers, building relationships that grow deeper over time.
One of the most loved activities is the partnership with Clip Clop Nursery, who visit every fortnight for "Boogie Babies." These lively sessions combine arts and crafts, reading, and music, with children dancing and singing alongside residents. The atmosphere is electric as residents join in with nursery rhymes, clapping and singing back to the children. For many, these moments rekindle cherished memories of their own children and grandchildren, offering comfort, joy, and reconnection.
"Seeing a resident's face light up when a child asks them about their past, that's what makes this work so special," says Valda, Head of Lifestyle and Wellbeing at Brampton Manor. "Winning this award is incredibly meaningful. Being at the awards ceremony and hearing how our approach has inspired others made me so proud of our team. These intergenerational activities bring purpose, laughter, and life to our home."
Another highlight was Brampton's celebration of World Book Day with Fairstead House School. Pupils visited to share their favourite stories, while residents from the Nostalgia Community read with the children and reminisced about books from their own childhoods. Residents even gifted stories to the pupils, creating shared memories that spanned generations. As one teacher reflected: "It was the perfect way to celebrate World Book Day. The residents were wonderful storytellers and so kind." A Whole Team Effort
Akhi, Home Manager at Brampton Manor, emphasised that the award reflects the commitment of everyone at the home. "I couldn't be prouder of our team. Every single person at Brampton Manor plays a part in making these connections happen. It takes creativity, commitment, and most of all, genuine care to bring generations together in meaningful ways. This award belongs to the whole team."
These activities are grounded in Brampton Manor's Life Enrichment Programme, built on six principles supporting holistic wellbeing. Through intergenerational engagement, residents grow by sharing knowledge, connect through meaningful relationships, and contribute by maintaining a sense of purpose through active community involvement.
Carl Roberts, Director of Sales and Marketing at Boutique Care Homes, who attended the ceremony with the team, said the win reinforces the company's core values. "This recognition underscores something we hold deeply at Boutique Care Homes: lifestyle and engagement are fundamental to quality care. When residents feel connected to their community and to other generations, they thrive. I'm incredibly proud of what our team has achieved."
A heartfelt thank you to the dedicated team at Brampton Manor, our wonderful residents and their families, and local community partners including Clip Clop Nursery and Fairstead House School who make these connections possible.
