In order to support residents’ relatives and friends, and the local community, Barchester’s Ashford House Care Home in Staines held a free Eating Well With Dementia Talk. The event was open to all members of the community.

Head Chef Mihai who is specially trained in catering for those living with dementia from Ashford House Care Home delivered the talk which covered topics such as nutrition and hydration, how to maintain a healthy weight and how to reduce the risk of choking. There was plenty of time for Q&A during the talk and the chance to sample some examples of the meals Mihai produces.

General Manager, Daisy, said: “We wanted to help and support relatives, friends and members of our local community who have loved ones who are living with dementia, and we did just that. The session proved to be very popular and we have had lots of positive feedback from attendees. We will definitely be holding another event soon to continue to support our residents’ relatives, their loved ones and members of our local community.”
