In order to support ex-servicemen and women in the local community, Barchester’s Meadowbeck Care Home in York launched a new, monthly veterans’ café which The Lord Mayor – Martin Rowley attended for its grand opening on Tuesday 27 January, it was lovely to see some SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity members, as well as representatives from the York Army Museum, who brought along a selection of artefacts for everyone to view.
Every last Tuesday of the month from 10.30 – 12.00am, the veterans’ cafe will be open for all to come along and meet other ex-servicemen and women, along with veteran support agencies and charities. It will be a chance to make friends, meet people who perhaps have similar experiences and challenges, and find out how to get help, advice and support. Come along for a cuppa, and a tasty bacon roll for a chance to relax and unwind.
General Manager Annaliza Kemp, comments: “We are only too happy to welcome ex-servicemen and women and their families from our local community to Meadowbeck care Home in order to support them. We hope the café will be a huge success, please do come along on Tuesday 24 February to have a coffee, a chat and bacon roll – everyone is welcome.”
