My wife has been in Meadowbeck for 8 months. During that time she has been well cared for by the kind, helpful and courteous staff. The home is kept clean, the staff are friendly and assist my wife with her daily needs. She is comfortable and has no complaints. We are pleased with the overall care given.

Mum was very happy and settled at the home and had all the care she needed when she needed it. Every we dealt with was kind, helpful, skills and went the extra mile to help her and the family. They made us feel like part of their family and at home. Mum loved the food and had some really special experiences
after being isolated for a couple of years she had fun and social times and loved the musical events - especially 'Elvis'. The home exceeded our expectations - well done team.

My Mum has been in Meadowbeck for a number of years now and I cannot speak highly enough about the care she receives there.
The building is well kept and comfortable, but most of all, the staff clearly enjoy their jobs, and it shows in the way they naturally interact with the residents, showing care
and a real friendship.
In the time my Mum has been in there I have always been very happy with how well she is looked after.

When visiting my friend my first impression I thought I was in a five star hotel, the tables were set out beautifully and glasses sparkling the residents looked very happy and I lookedaround I could see they were in safe hands. Tina was there for whatever they needed. The residents were well presented
and the building spotlessly clean and smelling fresh. I was warmly welcomed by friendly staff. Lovely entertainment with Christmas carols everyone joining in with Claire and her sax.

I am always warmly welcomed to the home! The staff are fabulous & caring, trying to find activities that friends & family can enjoy together. Tina, the events coordinator, also takes time to get to know the likes & hobbies of residents, to make events even more personal. It really makes a difference
to my friends & It's such a pleasure to visit! Thank you to all the staff!

My mum has been at Meadowbeck for 18 months and I can't speak highly enough of the care she's received. Frankly, it's a hideous decision to put a loved one in care and I still struggle with that. But the quality of care my mum receives at Meadowbeck makes the decision bearable. The frontline care staff,
housekeeping staff, catering team, maintenance staff, managers, medical team and activity staff are ALL just wonderful - they have come to feel like family. My mum is happy and settled and feels safe and secure. All the staff know her and delight in telling me her antics as soon as I walk through the door. They genuinely care about her, and by extension, me and my daughter, and I will be eternally grateful for the skill, professionalism and compassion with which they look after all of us

My mother was a resident at Meadowbeck Care Home for five years, until her passing in October 2025. During that time, she truly thrived thanks to the wonderful care and attention she received. Meadowbeck has a warm, homely atmosphere with several cosy communal spaces - a comfortable TV lounge, a lovely
coffee and cake area, a smaller lounge for quiet chats, and a beautifully decorated dining room that feels more like a restaurant, complete with tablecloths and a welcoming setting.
The activities coordinator, is an absolute star. She always had something creative and engaging planned, ensuring residents were stimulated and happy. My mother made many friends - both among the kind, caring staff and with other residents - and we always felt she was treated with dignity, compassion, and genuine affection.
We are deeply grateful to everyone at Meadowbeck for giving her such a happy and fulfilling final years. I would wholeheartedly recommend Meadowbeck to anyone.

My sister joined Meadowbeck Care Home because of serious health problems and multiple hospital admissions. Her care has been exceptional. The nursing care has stabilised her health. The quality of the food is too good - so her weight has increased! The social activities organised throughout the week
have stimulated interests and improved her mental health. In particular my sister has formed a strong bond with the activities co-ordinator who was responsible for organising a delicious afternoon tea for the family to celebrate my sister's birthday. As a result of the friendship she has found with the staff and residents she is a new person - unrecognisable from the one who joined originally.
Her family are delighted with the care of the team at Meadowbeck Care Home.

My mum was very happy and settled in her 2 weeks respite in Meadowbeck. The staff are so caring and helpful. My mum really liked them all. The manageress is so accommodating and make time to speak to me at short notice. Her room was very nice and she loved it immediately which I found so reassuring.
The only problem was she didn't want to go home!

My husband died on March 29th after a long and painful diagnosis of dementia. This passing was also a long and often painful journey and I spent most of my day hours and some bad nights with him. The staff at Meadowbeck were amazing beyond words. I cannot speak highly enough of the tenderness and gentle
care given by one and all. They included me in that caring, helping me through this difficult and very distressing time and help me cope with my grief.

A welcoming atmosphere to atmosphere to a situation of confusion for some. A lot of smiles from staff which brings reassurance to patients and families. Helpful answers to queries on health and medical matters which remain confusing from hospitals. Always clean and fresh rooms, personal cleanliness
and clothing kept under regular checks and changed and bathed frequently. Medication given for pain and comfort. Food, good variation on hot meals, catered for special requests and alternatives. Frequent chats to patients taking time to participate with groups in games and music.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.737) out of 10 for Barchester Meadowbeck Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 27 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.737 for Barchester Meadowbeck Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (238 Excellents x 5) + (66 Goods x 4) + (8 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 312 Ratings = 4.737
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Barchester Meadowbeck Care Home is based on 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12, which has been reached with 27 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
