I visit my friend most days and I always feel very welcome on arrival. I often join the events here and the residents are always coming, not forgetting the staff. I have enjoyed the events and had Christmas Day lunch also. May I add that the meals are very well cooked.

Mum has been in Barchester The Meadowbeck Care Home over two years now. The staff there are all lovely and helpful.
She likes that she can have hair done weekly. Most days there are activities which she likes to take part in, especially the singing ones.

My sister-in-law spent her final months here, and the care she was given was amazing. From start to finish, she was treated like a queen. Family coming to visit were always greeted with a smile. The nurses and carers work so hard, and nothing is ever too much trouble. Great facilities and a welcoming
feeling every time you walk in - amazing.

The staff are kind and I am always greeted with a smile and greeting from everyone. My husband is confined to bed and slightly confused so takes part in no activities but enjoys his food.

This care home is run, maintained, and operated just how a care home should be.
With excellent fully trained dedicated staff. Nothing is too much bother for these highly motivated individuals.
If you are looking for a care home it can be a very daunting bewildering challenge.
This care home keeps
you at ease that your loved one is getting the care they need and deserve.
I cannot praise enough the activity department who every day provides the stimulation that is required
Truly brilliant.

My mum has been a resident here for over three years and she couldn't receive better care anywhere else.
The entire team at Meadowbeck clearly genuinely make every effort to ensure her needs are met. She's always well turned out and beautifully dressed. Detailed thought goes into her care to ensure
she's comfortable, well looked after and happy.
As a relative I'm always made to feel welcome and very much part of her team. Thank you everyone at Meadowbeck for everything you do and all the extra miles you go for your residents.

My brother was transferred here from the hospice, and initially, I was worried.
However, there was absolutely no need to be as he received pain medication on time and was never in pain. He was very comfortable and safe under the auspices of the unit manager and all the staff. I do mean all staff, from
the manager to the cleaners, all were excellent. There is a nice atmosphere, and it's very welcoming with lovely rooms and food. All staff are very friendly and seem to genuinely care for their residents. Thank you all so much for what you did for my brother to make his last few weeks enjoyable, safe, comfortable, with dignity and pain-free.

I recently wrote a review regarding my mother-in-law giving an overall 5 stars.
Unfortunately, my mother-in-law passed away on the 12th of March at 8:45. The care through the night leading to her passing the next day was dealt with, with such care and respect both for my mother-in-law and for the
family members who stayed with her to the end. The nurse who was in charge of the night shift, whom we had never met, gave the family so much support which lasted all through the night to the last minutes of her shift, the quality of care she gave my mother-in-law, respect, and dignity was amazing. When the day shift came on, the same quality of care for the family and my mother-in-law carried on. My mother-in-law's passing was so peaceful, we are so grateful for the quality of care not only my mother-in-law received but also the family got from the staff on memory lane.

Our experience has been a very good one overall. The carers activity coordinator the food has all been to a high standard. We find the staff very caring and professional. I think having a bigger toilet area with shower facilities in their room would be an advantage for family members to be able to assist
with personal care for their loved ones. The entertainment is excellent all in all a very nice comfortable place.

I cannot praise the staff at Barchester The Meadowbeck Care Home highly enough for the care they gave Mum.
She only had a short time there, from December to the end of January, but she felt happy and safe. Although Mum was ill, she rallied enough to really enjoy many of the activities which were organised
several times a day with something for everyone on offer.
The staff were super kind and friendly and we felt welcomed into 'Mum's home' each time we visited.
A big thank you to all the staff for doing such a great job at Meadowbeck!

Since my mother moved into Meadowbeck (she has now been there 2.5 years) she has come on leaps and bounds. What a brilliant home she is in! The staff are fantastic and cannot do enough for the residents. They always have a smile on their faces, the food served is excellent and the entertainment is above
and beyond. What can I say? When I am older I am moving in! Thank you Meadowbeck for all you do for my mum.

I am a regular visitor at Barchester The Meadowbeck Care Home as I am a volunteer for therapy dogs and we visit the residents and staff fortnightly. Each time Ted and I visit, we receive such a warm welcome from the activities coordinator and the rest of the staff team. The residents love saying hello
to Ted and give him lots of cuddles and fusses. In return, Ted brings comfort and lots of smiles to the residents. Therapy dogs are great for social and emotional interactions and give great opportunities for residents and staff to open up, chat and reminisce about old times. I would definitely recommend Meadowbeck, it’s a lovely place.

Meadowbeck feels like a family. Every member of staff from carers to maintenance and kitchen staff knows and treats the residents with respect and compassion. Residents are looked after not only in terms of their physical needs but also their whole well-being. There are varied and well-planned activities
daily and family and friends are made to feel welcome to join in. Residents are sometimes taken out for trips to coffee mornings or garden centres and even linked with the local toddler group.
Any issues or concerns have been dealt with quickly and professionally, giving me confidence that Mum is receiving the right care.
I have no hesitation in recommending Meadowbeck and I am happy to call it Mum's home.

My mother was a resident at Meadowbeck from October 2022 until she passed away on May 27th 2023, during her relatively short stay she was treated with the utmost care, dignity and respect by every single member of staff we had the pleasure and honour of getting to know. When she went upstairs onto the
Memory Lane, dementia wing, her care was absolutely exemplary and she forged some lovely relationships with the dedicated carers who went above and beyond what we expected and we are forever in their debt.
I have no hesitation in recommending Meadowbeck to anyone looking to help loved ones requiring respite or residential care, the whole experience, certainly in my mum's case was “world class”.
Thank you Meadowbeck.

My mother was a resident at The Meadowbeck Care Home for over 2 years till she passed away in August 2022. At the time she appeared to be treated with kindness and dignity. Her family were always welcome and greeted enthusiastically even during the pandemic. Our views were listened to sympathetically
and my mother's end-of-life wishes were fully respected and endorsed. They handled her move from another Barchester home and a member of staff accompanied her to her grandson's wedding which gave her great joy. I can only thank the staff for all they did and the peace of mind they gave me in my mother's final years. I am writing this review as care decisions are very difficult to take and I felt the manager and the team had my mother's best interests at heart.

We couldn't be happier with the care provided to Mum at Meadowbeck. The staff are outstanding. Mum has settled well and has a comfortable room, which is clean. The activities at Meadowbeck are brilliant and as a family, we love joining in. Nothing is too much trouble. It was difficult making the decision
that mum needed nursing care, but it has been made so much easier by all at Meadowbeck.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.737) out of 10 for Barchester Meadowbeck Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 27 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.737 for Barchester Meadowbeck Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (238 Excellents x 5) + (66 Goods x 4) + (8 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 312 Ratings = 4.737
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Barchester Meadowbeck Care Home is based on 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12, which has been reached with 27 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
