Harp and Happiness at Braeburn Lodge

Staff and residents at the Braeburn Lodge care home in Market Deeping were treated to an hour in the company of talented harpist, Marian O’Toole. Marian delighted the residents at the home by performing all kinds of different pieces, there were classical harp solos, along with a mix of popular songs - everything from the Beatles to Rodgers and Hammerstein. There was something for everyone, and the residents had a wonderful time singing and clapping along. Originally from West Wales, Marian studied music in Cardiff where she excelled at the harp. She has performed all over the world both as a harp soloist and as an accompanist, playing with different orchestras and choirs. Marian taught the harp for many years before her retirement. She still teaches privately and accompanies the Rugby Male Voice Choir as well as other local choirs. She has spent her life bringing harp music to many different audiences and helping other to perfect their skills. Marian said: “It was an absolute privilege to spend time with the Barchester residents and to be able to play some of my favourite pieces for them. I loved chatting to them after the performance and answering their questions about my life travelling the world as a harpist.”
