Today we focused on fortified drinks and recognising malnutrition with both our residents and team. Residents prepared fortified smoothies that were both delicious and packed with nutrients and additional calories.
Our team also completed Recognising Malnutrition training, ensuring we have the knowledge and confidence to address nutritional risks.
Fortified drinks offer many benefits for older people who may be at higher risk of malnutrition, including:-
- Supporting stronger muscles through higher protein content - Providing essential vitamins and minerals to reduce nutritional gaps - Supporting bone health through added calcium and vitamin D - Offering an easier option for those who struggle with full meals - Helping prevent extreme weight loss through additional calories - Providing valuable hydration
With this shared knowledge, Meadowbrook remains committed to supporting every resident’s nutritional wellbeing.
