Residents from Exemplar Health Care's homes have been helping to shape the next generation of Nurses and Social Workers at Sheffield Hallam University.
On 22 January 2026, three Service User Ambassadors took part in a Simulated Practice Learning Day for first-year Learning Disability Nursing and Social Work students.
During a dedicated session, they shared their personal experiences of living in a care home and spoke about what good support looks like in everyday life.
Students heard first-hand how compassionate, person-centred care can make a lasting difference.
The session encouraged open and honest discussion, helping future professionals better understand the importance of listening, respect, and partnership.
The day also included practical simulation activities focused on supporting someone moving into social care, as well as discussions about careers in the sector and the skills required to provide high-quality support.
By working closely with the university, the organisation continues to contribute to the education of future health and social care professionals.
Most importantly, the involvement of Service User Ambassadors ensures that lived experience remains at the heart of learning - helping to shape more skilled and compassionate care for the future.
