On Friday 6th March, Redcot, our Haslemere-based residential care home, will be hosting an Open Day to not only give visitors, prospective residents, respite guests and their families the opportunity to see and experience, first-hand, the care home’s great facilities, take tours of the beautiful building and meet the dedicated and caring team – but to also join Redcot’s first Friends Connect coffee morning and informative talks.
“On Friday 6th March will be hosting an Open Day and also launching of our charity’s new, free, community initiative, Friends Connect,” said Latasha Jarrett, the Registered Manager at Redcot. “Taking place on the first Friday of every month, Friends Connect will be a free monthly coffee morning with a programme of supportive events and activities for older people and the people who support them, in a welcoming, safe and inclusive environment.
“Each month, Friends Connect will be welcoming coffee morning and an informative and practical session given by care sector experts. The monthly talks will cover a range of different subjects including such topics as Dementia Care and navigating topics such as Lasting Power of Attorneys; and for our Open Day and inaugural Friends Connect we have a wonderful interactive, useful and helpful day planned.”
Redcot’s Open Day and Friends Connect event will begin at 11 a.m. with a warming Coffee Morning and the opportunity to take guided tours of the care home. At 12 noon, Social Care Trainer, Alex Bayliss, will give a talk on Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPAs), covering subject such as planning, the types of LPAs and any limitations. “Alex will also be on hand to answer any questions visitors may have and chat through any issues they are facing,” added Latasha.
At 2 p.m., Yvette Carr, our Head of Dementia Care, will give a presentation and talk on how to support older people who are living with dementia. “I will be sharing expert insights on caring for an elderly person living with dementia and talking about my own experiences of caring for a relative who is living with dementia. I’ll also be available to answer any queries visitors may have,” said Yvette. “In addition, the Open Day guided tours will give visitors the chance to see the care home’s wonderful areas – including the residents’ very own pub, The Redcot Arms,” continued Latasha. “Visitors will also see how spacious, elegant and airy the rooms are, the bright and cheery communal areas – which are ideal for entertaining friends, family and loved ones, or simply relaxing – and the beautiful gardens.
“The Open Day will also be a great platform for each member of Redcot’s compassionate and professional care team, who is dedicated to delivering high quality, bespoke care to each resident and respite guest, to demonstrate and show how they put each individual’s wellbeing, care needs and safety at the heart of what they do, every day.
“We are all looking forward to meeting members of our local community, our neighbours, seeing old friends, making new connections and catching up with our residents’ relatives and loved ones at our Open Day and first Friends Connect event,” concluded Latasha.
